S-Class (W223) [Official] Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W223)

The Mercedes-Benz W223 is the seventh generation of the S‑Class full-size luxury sedan. Body Styles: W223 (standard), V223 (long), Z223 (limousine, Mercedes-Maybach). Predecessor: S‑Class (W222). Successor: S-Class (W224) [expected]. Production: 2020- Model years: 2021-
For the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, see Mercedes-Maybach S-Class (Z223)
I also have the impression that there are large price differences between individual countries for the W223.

For Example the S500 4Matic without Options:
- Price in Switzerland: 144'600 Swiss Francs > in Dollars: 161’258
- Price in USA: 109'800 Dollars

The swiss price includes the tax. The us price doesnt. Right? And we dont even need to talk about norway. The taxes there are absurdly high. That has nothing to do with the fact that the car manufacturers there want to rip people off. The state does that.

There was a time Switzerland was just reimporting cars from the USA and we had all those ugly (sorry American friends) yellow reflectors on the cars.

True, it comes with more extras as standard.
I don’t know how to put this, but there’s a discrepancy between the price and what the W223 is offering. In other words, I had no problem paying for both W222. I do have a problem paying for the W223, because I think it’s not worth what MB is asking for it. ? first world problem, I know.
Have you considered upgrading to one of the very last W222 with lots of options, there must be some new ones around still ? No issues with a car like that.

Not really, Luke. A few reasons:
- I’ve only driven it for circa 160.000 km. After 250.000 km it’s time for a new one;
- though not fully loaded, mine isn’t bar from options. Enough to enjoy it thoroughly ;-)
- Your last sentence says it all; absolutely no issues with my car since the day I picked it up at Sindelfingen. Even the extra oil consume I noticed during the first 100.000 km is gone.

Yes, I can give an even more extreme example: in 2014 the base Corvette costed from 52 000 usd, in Norway it costed 1 800 000 nok which with the exhange rate in 2014 was 240 000 usd....!
Norway has a lot of taxes on cars (and other products...), but I think Denmark has even higher car prices. FYI in Germany a Corvette costed 69 900€ in 2014, equivalent to 87 000 usd.

Hi Mick, you are right - hefty price increase. But you get more extras as standard. Which will be ordered anyhow I guess.
Not really. For example , I compared the price that I paid for mine (with almost all the gadgets) , for one that was exposed on my local dealer , with almost all the gadgets.

And I saw a 20k increase in price , and keep in mind that I have S500 ( V8 ) , and the new one was S500 ( V6 ) .

I don't know the price for S580 (who should be the replacement for W222 V8 ) , but one fully loaded should bump over 200k.

Regarding the new tech , only time will tell if they are useful in direct line with price-per-option.

There were a lot of W222 options that were not so popular . Magic Vision Control , Magic Body Control , Split View , etc. All gone on W223

Daimler: Combustion engine phased out before 2039?

According to the report, the "symbol of this accelerated change" could be the next generation of the S-Class, which is apparently scheduled for market launch in 2028. "If Källenius is serious about his accelerated changeover, it would probably only be available as an electric vehicle," according to the Handelsblatt.

Magic vision control is still available and the new and better chassis is still coming. But it is no longer called magic body control. Split view has not been available since the 222 mopf 2017 so far as I know.

My point is , that there were never useful then. Not so many with those options on the street...

New tech does not mean good tech. Hence the price increase...

Has Magic Body Control really been deleted? @Wolfgang

A new improved system has been developed Mr. Mercedes. It's now called eABC or E-Active Body Control. Here's a picture of the development team. :)

Since it’s MBUSA we’re talking about here - I’d say not until we start seeing spyshots of the facelift...

MBUSA's site is the most awful site of the German car makers in the U.S. Porsche is the best and then BMW.
