the interior is concept worthy too good to be true but i'm in love

Any negatives from Autobild?

maybe. The 'Ingenieur-Schmalz' thing sounds like a little bit of a dig at Mercedes' engineering pedantry.

The author of the piece, Joachim Staat, says the LWB(V222) tested is sufficient for Asians to fully stretch out in the reclining rear non-driver's side individual seat, but Europeans will have to wait for the XL/Pullman version to be really able to do so. Bear in mind Herr Staat looks around 6'4"(1.93 m) tall, so maybe this is a little bit tenuous.

Gotta love though that a German appears still able to say things like the Asian size statement thing, when in UK and certainly the US with their much higher immigrant populations and general all-pervasive politically correct culture such a statement would never have even left the sub-editor's desk.

Overall though, Herr Staat says the inescapable to sum up the new S-Class, with the wonderful German word: Erhabenheit.

^ PC nothwithstanding, it baffles me how it is the Chinese for whom automakers are developing these extra-long-wheelbase vehicles when, let's face it, the average Chinese is not in any danger of not fitting.

- it's human nature - what you haven't got you value/yearn for most. it's why short women marry tall men, the dinkiest women love the biggest 4x4s and why short-arse orientals want XXL rear leg space.

It is all about status and 'face' , that is why they have long wheel base versions of the C and the E class.

Yep, XXL wheelbase seems about right... we have already seen spy photos and we know Pullman (rear-facing seats) needs to be much longer (and has been part of the lineup for quite a while). Therefore, the 4dr coupe remains a myth.

Hmm cab, and what are the 2 others?

Pullman is hardly a new model, its been there for the W221 and previous S classes, its just a thing they do on the side.

So are we talking a Grosser, and a 4 door coupe then?

4 door coupe is going to be very desirable. I wish I got the money by that time.

"To prepare for the production line of the new S Class Mercedes factory commenced in Sindelfingen would cost one billion euros. What is new is the development of special technology aluminium with steel roof connection body with mass production."

I think this has probably already been covered, but is the S lighter than the outgoing car ?

Mind they probably green light the S-Class 4 door coupe due before the LCI of the W222.
