^ MBC as now deployed appears more like a Beta version. I am sure MB engineers will fine-tune it to recognize more and more kinds of road irregularities - right now it appears to work only on large speed bumps, which unless you are confined to parking lots, has not much advantage.
I think it would do good here in Dallas too where there are a lot of wavy and rough sections. I can't wait to try it out.
I bet a S550 will go for like 125K now with typical options. YIKES. Mercedes done a complete about face from the Shremp years where Benz was making cheap POS cars to a price, trying to pander to so called bargain shoppers who think they're getting a bargin because something is cheap. This S-Class (along with the SL and GL) have put the substance back into a Mercedes and people see that and going by sales, they have no problem paying for a better made vehicle. Which is what a Mercedes should be, expensive, while vividly displaying why it is worth the price.
Sure wish there was a S350 with a I6 with 365hp. The entry S-Class now has 449hp in the U.S. Mercedes needs something that isn't a hybrid or a diesel as the entry point IMO. Tennmb wants this also.

Fantastic leder designo!
Could not agree more. The new V6 bi-turbo in the E400 would be properly sufficient.
I don't think, we in the US, will see conventional powerplants below 550, I held my breath for that until my lungs exploded waiting on a 221 S450...I think it would do good here in Dallas too where there are a lot of wavy and rough sections. I can't wait to try it out.

I had a 2002 S430, and a 2006 S430, but to be honest, I think I like having the bigger V8 now... Guess I'm drunk from the extra power...![]()
Maybe so Merc1...I guess the marketing people called it right then. I guess they will bring back a diesel at some point.can see a S350 BT, S500 Hybrid (plug in), S550, S600, S63 and S65 AMG once all the variants of the sedan roll out for the U.S. Now the coupe should only be the S550, S600, S63 and S65 as the CL line is now. What I want to see a S63 Convertible. Going to be a wow moment.

On these here boards, I think Wolfgang said something about a 2016-2017 intro. I could be wrong though.
Mr. Mercedes mentioned I6 rumors first.
I read an interesting tidbit in the current issue 'Wheels' magazine here in Oz. A chief MB engineer revealed at Frankfurt that the next generation of 6 Cylinder diesel and petrol engines will be INLINE 6's and not V6's. The explanation was:
1. Inline 6's have a strong history at Mercedes
2. They don't have refinement issues inherent in a V6
3. It works well with both MB and Infiniti's product plans (The engines will be sold to Infinity)
4. They can now make them lighter and more compact than previously
5. Greater differentiation from AUDI
The inline 6's are due in 2015.

PS. MB commercial engines already switched from V6 to I6, with 238 PS (OM936) to 680 PS (OM473) now.

Maybe so Merc1...
But my gripe with diesel and hybrid stems from the issues with space and functionality...
I like having a spare tire, don't like driving on runflats... Or losing trunk space to a battery...
What's worse with Bluetec, is this BS that forces you to refill some tank with urea or the engine won't start, plus I heard from a friend that Bluetec tanks and thermostats can fail, just like hybrid batteries, causing thousands in repairs...
Supposedly the tank is heated at a precise temperature...I don't see how the adblue tank would "fail". Its a fluid tank like any other isn't it? Like winshield washer fluid or anything else. Anything failed on a Mercedes out of warranty is costly.

So the thermostat and heating elements tend to "fail"...
Hate the fact that MB diesels are the only ones with this unnecessary feature in the US...
Yeah, I didn't think about the tank either, but my friend's son-in-law runs a large limo company in L.A., and I hear that a lot of their R350s had AdBlue tank problems...Gotcha. I don't see why that would fail though. Mercedes has had heated washer fliud resivors for years. I think BMW and Audi 6-cylinder diesels have the same treatment. Its the 4-cylinders that don't, I believe.

I have read in the MBworld.org that the current C250CDI has the Ad Blue tank.Gotcha. I don't see why that would fail though. Mercedes has had heated washer fliud resivors for years. I think BMW and Audi 6-cylinder diesels have the same treatment. Its the 4-cylinders that don't, I believe.
