S-Class (W222/C217/A217) [Official] Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222)

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class. Body styles: W222 (standard), V222 (long), X222 (limousine, Mercedes-Maybach), VV222 (pullman), C127 (coupé), A217 (convertible). Predecessor: S-Class (W221). Successor: S-Class (W223). Production: 2013–2020.
That is a great insight. Thank you for the same. :)

And also the numerical of internal code remains the same with standard S-Class model.

BTW, will X222 & VV222 will have engine options to choose or stick on to S600 or S500? As well as what is your comment on the performance figures of S65 & S63, as S63 out performs S65 considering a bigger V12 engine and higher price tag, will it negatively effect as it did for G65?

True. Mercedes probably expects the X222 to be more popular than the VV222 similar to the SWB to Pullman ratio for the W100, reposted below.
Thus suspect it might be confined to a limited dimensional difference, but feature additional interior appointments. :)

I drove a S 500 (V222) yesterday with EVERYTHING on it you can think of. A nice black one with beige/brown exlusive nappaleather and MBC etcetera. I must say, such V8 is something else :-) The drive of this one topped the ones I had before in the W222/V222. So smooth and refined. I wasn't driving, I was floating, like on a magic carpet. Friday in a week, 27th I'm going to order.

Test drove an S500 today. My god, what a machine. Refinement is incredible and you literally are isolated from the world beyond the glass. You just waft about with complete authority. And the interior is lavish and beautifully detailed.

Prior to the test drive I spent some time in a still new W221 and I firmly believe the w222 is just as good if not better than the previous model in terms of build quality. All the surfaces are just softer to the touch and its more intricate in it's detailing which may make it seem a little daintier, but the fundamentals are just as good if not better.

@Wolfgang, so there is a super S-Class to succeed the Maybach, differnt to the W222 in terms of design, still comming?

I've done my own research and have found evidence of two more S-Class comming. The one Wolf has posted renders of, which is a bit longer than the V222 and has part of the glass house at the C pillar, and the super S-Class Autobild talked about, the one we saw spy pics of showing like a triple B pillar, and which clearly differs from the others, and should have a different styling, and debut on 2015 or 2016.

MB really need a different car design as their masterpiece, as top of the range to replace Maybach. Hope it will be different.

No, not this time. Not the slightest squeek or whatever. Build like a castle. Production proces and -quality is probably getting better by the week.

This is very encouraging to hear. My build is coming up soon and I'm kind of glad I'm in the second wave order group.

Speaking of the S600, where is the regular S600? It was rumored to be debuting at the Detroit show next month. If that is true we should be seeing it soon. On the Maybach replacement, if they expect to truly compete with Rolls and Bentley a stretched S600 won't do it. The Maybach level cars needs a bespoke body and interior, something that probably just doesn't make financial sense to Mercedes. How do you top a brand new S-Class? That is what they would need to do. Different body, interior and a stunning look. The S already has those things relative to every other Benz, how do you top that? A stretched S will be nice, but it won't worry the Phantom or Mulsanne.

I'm not sure if it has been posted here before or not. However, it surely is worth another watch. Impressive!

White is growing on me....

Still love black though!
I saw a white and black next to each other in person the other day. White looks amazing imo. I liked dark colors online til I saw white in person. Hands down better for my preference.

Oh wow...Mercedes has a light-hearted moment to answer Jaguar.

If they manage to make the new design variations for the super S-Class attractive enough, and upgrade the already stunning interior of the W222 to the Phantom level, while selling it at a lower price tag, MB could have another winner here. It´s the only german manufacturer that does not need to buy an old British brand in order to be on the ultra-luxury segment.
