Is this a facelift or pre facelift w222?
Facelift, different exhaust, lower bumper trim and the star dust taillights.

The straight rear view of the W222 is so beautiful, especially in light colors when the lines and surfaces can easily show up.

The cars are finally hitting the local showroom. The new wheel design and the upgraded bonded glass display really lifts the appearance of the exterior and interior. While this interior combination looks spectacular, for $300k AUD I expect it to have the full exclusive and extended nappa leather and wood trim.

I really hate when automakers call a facelift/LCI/MOPF “All-new”. It insults my intelligence... and everyone is doing it now.

All new or "next generation". It works though, 100% of my non car friends actually believed in the marketing spin.

I would argue it's not just marketing spin but out and out deceitful and the consumer authorities should be involved.

I'm just curious to why they change the location of the start button on some RHD cars and some don't?
Here it looks like they forgot it and added it last minute .

Isn't full nappa leather standard on the S?

Nappa/wood steering wheel is standard on the s560. If there’s pattern on the seats, then that S has nappa. And of course, Exclusive leather has quilted seats.

Exclusive (extended) wood trim is a separate à la carte option.

I like the pre-facelift headlights better as far as design and size. Creates a far more imposing front end than the facelift.

What gets me on the S, which includes the facelift, is the hollow sounding doors when you knock on the interior door panels. Screams cheap.

^ The doors are aluminum, so that is a big reason why it feels light. The competition isn’t much different.

The interior quality of the W222 is superior to the W220 & W221, especially the quality of leather and most switches. We have a few s-class owners members that could attest to that.

I get what Phy is saying. Yes we understand that the doors are aluminum which would make them feel lighter than previously, but the actual plastics that form the door face on the inside feel completely hollow when you tap on them. Like there is no substrate behind them or dampening on the face of them to make them feel more substantial and softer to touch. It’s a bugbear I have with our S as well. It’s less evident onn the C and appears to have been addressed on the E.

Other than that, I have few complaints regarding the interior quality and build.

Isn't full nappa leather standard on the S?
The S class in Australian spec has nappa leather seats, nappa leather on the door arm rests and the center console as standard. The top and bottom of the dashboard and the top half of the doors are still covered in MB tex. To get the full nappa leather interior, you will have to select the "exclusive package"

^^ exactly. Not talking about the lightness. My CLA door panels and now my C43 panels do not have as hollow of a sound as the S. Next time I go to the dealer I will take a video. Just knock on the upper part of panel.

MB should move the blind spot light from inside the mirror itself to the mirror cover facing the driver. VW cars do this.

So do BMW. I much prefer the MB location. It’s likely the more expensive execution as well being integrated into the mirror.
