S-Class (W221/C216) [Official] Mercedes-Benz S-Class W221 Facelift

The Mercedes-Benz W221 is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Predecessor: S-Class (W220). Successor: S-Class (W222). Production: 2005–2013.
The Mercedes-Benz C216 is the last generation grand tourer named CL-Class. Predecessor: CL-Class (C215). Successor: S-Class (C217). Production: 2005–2014.
The car looks truly stunning, this is a fantastic FL. The LEDs in the main unit are barely discerneable, so it's not tacky.
However, if I were to buy a 600... I'd ditch that superfluous chrome lining in the lower part of the front bumper. This is too much. Maybe letting it on the side only (like at the rear), but underlining the whole front is overdone imo.

Single flaw however (maybe the diffusor of the AMGs?) in a fantastic job. Kudos to MB.

Her Majesty!

Out of the top models I think I like the S 63 best. S 65 has that tacky twin-slit grille and the S 600 has the absolutely horrible rims. The S 63 on the other hand has no such evident weaknesses.

The grill on the S65 does take some getting use to, but I still love that 612hp. Makes it the KING of Germany. It's the ALL POWERFUL benz...if u need all that power. Only thing is paying the extra 60k for it.

People who doesn't like Mercedes or people who driven BMW for many years.
Members on this board are masters of making fuss about nothing. I've seen the new E-class and E-class Coupe in real life now and its nothing unique or something special like some people make it sound like. What saving the S-class is the AMG package, without it there are many out great looking cars on the market to choose between.
S-class is a fine car but so are many other cars.

Members of this board are masters at making a fuss about nothing? Unless that includes everyone and not just Mercedes fans this is a most ridiculous (and hypocritical) statement.

There is nothing "saving" the S-Class as many people like it and more importantly buy it without the AMG kit. You're right, there are many other good looking and fine cars to choose from, but the S-Class is the car of this segment no matter how many ways you and others try to detract from that. Just like in the 3-Series' class there are many other fine alternatives, but there is one that always leads.

Merc1, that is so true! Something about the Facelift models bring out the best. Same went for the W220. The face lift model was way better looking. Do you remember the changes they made to the W140 when it was time for it's facelift?

Yep, with the W140 they added some slimmer bumpers, dropped the ride height, altered the two-tone body panels, slimmed down the front lights and some other changes to make the car appear smaller since it was being knocked for its size/girth. Now the W140 is one of the few exceptions because I like the original "Panzer" models. Plus Mercedes started de-contenting them with the 1995 facelift. The original 1992-1994 models were built like like the best old-school Mercedes you could find. I also like the 1997-1999 models, though decontented they body was all one color by then.

Since I didnt name anyone then you can guess what I meant.

I don't care what other people do, thats their business. But I would never ever buy a S-class without AMG package. Leader or not.

Yea I saw an W140 black S600 a while ago. The car was amazing started off slow beside me then took off doing about 120mph down this Mountain in Maryland.

I'm still thinking about getting a 1999 "Big Body Benz" if I can find one in good condition. I guess in a few years we will be getting ready to see the next S-class...which has me a little scared since this one (W221) is already perfect. I guess the new one will be the W222?

The S-class looks good regardless of AMG package or not. Just like the 7 series...these big cars don't really need additional packaging. Yes, it makes them look more sporty...but their is nothing in this world like a S600 with the regular trim. It looks timeless with just the V12 and the 600 on it.

Why not go with the top models if you can. If your spending this kind of money the grill on the S65 and the wheels on the S600 can always be changed. These little details shouldn`t bother your wallet too much.

You know...I wonder how much it would cost to get that grill changed. I mean I love that they tried to make the S65 so exclusive, but I do like the regular grill a little better.

But to tell you the truth...I would have to get the S65 AMG over any Benz...matter fact over any car (Except for the Bentley Arnage Final Edition and the BUGATTI VEYRON *The best car every built*).

The S65 AMG is the absolute best that Mercedes-benz offers. There is not a car in Germany that can compete with the S65AMG. Now that the 760 out guns the S600...The S65 is the ultimate choice. The idea of a 612hp Sedan that weighs that much and moves like a ferrari brings tears to my eyes...The sedan is a breathtaking work of art that should be adored by everyone who is an automobile enthusiast....

It's MIND BLOWING how amazing that car is...I would give up my first born for that car.

Thats fine long as long as the S-Class' leadership is in tact. The rest is matterless really.

Yep those pics are... insane.
The S65 is just out of this world.

It's so awesome it shouldn't even stay for sale!:D

^lol that made me laugh very hard..:D

PS
the pics are from the AMG website..the cars are up now:D

Great post HighestOfHigh.. I don`t think it would cost too much. Heck if your a frend of the salesmen (and you bought the car off the lot) he just might change it for free!! The wheels too!!
A friend of mine gets to test-drive every new Mercedes, BMW, Rolls without question because he has connections. It`s if anyone is really buying one of these we need to learn to have some sort of connection with the sales people. You would be amazed how well that works out.

:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

The is the best, most reliable, most powerful production 4-door car on the planet. Not sure if AMG is still going to kill the V12 seeing that the S65 still uses a modified MB engine. The next S65 (or what ever thay call it) better be just as good as this one. Great find Artist!

Anyone else notice how huge those rear roters are!!
That look bigger than the previous version
