I

I found a road test of the 2011 E550 on Moterweek and it shows 4 full sized adults in the rear.
I have been in the E550 cabriolet. I did not have that much of a problem with rear legroom and I am 5'10.
The S550 is a larger car so there really shouldn't be a problem. The torsional rigidity is great on this car.
The S should be the same.

I see three medium sized guys and a dwarf. A family at my kids karate club have a 2014 E cabrio, their kids are normal sized 10 and 12 years old, it's a fairly tight squeeze to fit them in there, the family drove it from Norway to Nice, the kids were not happy in the back for that length of drive.

I'm 5'10 and I would have a problem sitting beside myself in the E, there just isn't any legroom and I would be rubbing shoulders with myself.

I've sat in a Phantom Drophead, it's huge back there and very easy to get into, plenty of shoulder room.

Don't get my wrong this is a handsome car, I'd happily drive one, I just expected something bigger.

Yeah, but the Phantom DHC is more comparible with the Titanic than most other road cars ;)

You must be one huge guy then. A lot heavier me. I'm just 175lbs.
Let's be fair, you cannot judge the size of those guys on Motor week just by looking at them sitting in the rear seat. That's silly.
Getting yourself all worked up on a car you have not seen in the metal yet. If you don't plan on buying one of these I wouldn't worry about the rear seat space.
End of discussion.

That's what she....you know what? I am not going to do it. ;)

What I find also appealing is that they start offering some more variety in alloy wheels. I was getting a bit tired of seeing the multi-spoke AMG (as good as they look!) featured on all new models from the CLA up to the S-Class Coupe...

I'd take a jaguar XJ for a longer trips say like from here to Noway.

Planning to join the exodus of refugees heading for Europe, you'd probably get through the door travelling in a stylie XJ rather than a dingy ;)

Yea, also the Jags are more reliable since my gut feeling is more of them are being restored and there is no better measure of reliability. But you really should consider a Radical instead, that would be like rolling up in a 918. ;)

Rob, this comment of yours is of poor taste, please refrain from posting something of this nature again.

As previously discussed a new fragrance "Pacific Mood" is available specifically for the cabriolet. "Freeside Mood" comes standard with the cabriolet, and "Pacific Mood" needs to be ordered separately, according to the latest rumors emerging from MB Passion. :)

I have seen a lot of these coupes on the road and while I understand it is a good looking car; it does not make me want to do a double take like the Bentley Conti; or the C215/ C216 CL class cars. They looked more regal for their time; this looks too much like the rest of the benz range; hell the headlights are just a deviation from the S; C; new E; GLE and; GLC; GLS class.

Last week I saw one approaching me and for the love of god I was unable to distinguish whether it was a C class or a S coupe. Things will only get more difficult when the C coupe/ cab are released.

All in all a good effort; but I would have expected something very stellar in terms of their flagship model.

Agreed. The new S coupe/convertible would have been as good, even better, as C215 CL if it was an exclusive design but the current C coupe and other similar designs have reduced its exclusive appeal. However, even the S coupe resembles so much with current C coupe, size does matter a lot here and hence where the S coupe is breathtaking the C coupe is butt ugly.

LOL you really summed some few pages of worthless comparisons in one post. Very well played Sir :dead:

simply beautiful, a grand return of the much loved S cabriolet, a car with immense prestige and history, this does look the real business. It is very warming to see MB returning to their core principles recently, for example the new S range incl. the MAYBACH now the cabrio, this is the most complete plus happening S range ever, very impressive.

now onto the car, it simply super esp. for a cabrio for which it is difficult to strike a right balance of proportions, the seem to created a new work of beauty, for me it might just be more balanced than the coupe, and it also premieres the new design theme of the profile 'dropping', which I think is a first for MB cabriolets. works very well. my only complain is I wanted a proper ocean drive, but I don't think that is happening.....

I heard Volkswagen is making a Sharan cabrio, specially for you, so you can fit all your buddies and goodies in there. The only problem, is that won't be able to mount a roof rack, but on the positive side, you'll be able to tow a Tesla X which run out of battery, if you spec the special "towatreehuger" pack

I'm sorry, but I don't understand the fixation with the rear seats. I don't care if it is a Phantom Drophead or a 4-series cabrio. The rear seats of a drop top are simply not meant for long distance sitting.

I think the Cabriolet is about ten times better looking than the Coupe, and I have yet to see the Cabriolet in person, but judging by how I felt about the Coupe when I had only seen it in pictures, the Cabriolet will be spectacular!

Oh how funny, you're a comedian, go back to making guitars. Also completely off topic.
