GLK-Class (X204) [Official] Mercedes-Benz GLK

The Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class (X204) is a compact luxury crossover SUV produced from 2008 to 2015. It is succeeded by the Mercedes-Benz GLC (X253/C253). Production: 2008-2015. Model years: 2010-2015.
Wait a min, the wood in the GLK is fake? That would be a first for a Mercedes sold in the U.S.

I wouldn't quote me, but it felt like it when I sat in the GLK when I was in Germany last year. Again, that is not Gospel, just an opinion.

I didn't think it would be fake, Mercedes hasn't gone that route yet as far as I know. Mercedes' wood is real in every vehicle they make as far as I know, never seen anything that says otherwise.

Never heard or seen them use fake wood, even in the Schremp era. But they have used fake carbon fiber in the past. Don't think they do that anymore though it's just an expensive option now...

A week ago I sat in a GLK in our local dealer, and I didn´t find anything good enough to be praised. The interior is absolutely bad designed, even the dials looked bad to me. I drive an ML and a W211 E-Class and can assure you the plastics of the ML are not at the same level that the E ones, but the GLK is just... puaj.

Sometimes I see a white GLK around my street that doesn´t look bad at all, but the interior of the GLK is really bad imho.

win a GLK? :t-drive:

Maybe aside the wheels, but surely I can't be the only one who thinks the car looks almost like a bad chop in that pic???

I'm pretty sure that Mercedes has used fake wood before, but only in one vehicle. The early M-class had fake wood on the interior grab handles and chrome door handle surrounds. However, there was real wood on the console and dash.

Yeah Man, it would give the x3 and q5 serious competition here in sa.....

IF priced correctly. I see it more as a X1 competitor and so does the international car press.;)
And the materials used in the interior looks to be on par to that in the X1.

The new X3 has pretty much the same size as the original X5. Or so I read in a recent auto mag. Something Mercedes is not catching on to. Most of their competitors have grown quite a bit. The current ML is one of the worst for rear leg room. The Q7, X5, RX350 all dominate it in this area.
The new E did rebound and has a much more comfortable back seat. I hope the new ML does as well. Very important in this segment.

I have no probs with the GLK materials. They are better than what is in the ML. The only gripe I have is from the air vents down. There isn't any flow. The upper dash is very smooth and coherent. Then when you get to the center stack it just falls apart.
