MB Passion is test driving an GLE 450 AMG Coupe today, and taking the ferry from Tallinn to Helsinki. The longer they drive it, the more they seem to like it. :)

Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class – SUV and Coupe

For 2016 Mercedes-Benz will have two versions of the mid-sized SUV. The GLE-Class SUV and Coupe. Pictured above is the current ML-Class and the GLE-coupe. Similar size, but very different styling.

2016 GLE-Class SUV

This is a mid-cycle refresh to the current M-Class. There are upgrades to the interior and exterior but it will be very recognizable as the traditional SUV. It will be available in many variants: GLE300d, GLE350, GLE400, GLE550e, GLE63 AMG

2016 GLE-Class Coupe

This is a whole new version of the mid-size SUV. This GLE had coupe-like lines, AMG styling and is meant to stand out. The GLE-Coupe will only be available as the GLE450 AMG Sport and the GLE63 AMG.

Does that help? There seems to be a lot of confusion about why we are turning our ML into a coupe! We aren’t…there are two!

Have to be honest with oneself... I like this Benz, A LOT! (y)(y)(y)(y)(y) ;)

I have to agree with this. At first I was a bit harsh with the poor GLE Coupe. Mainly because is comes from the old ML that looked like crap. And I still believe the biggest problems this car has come from the old ML: the interior and the non-AMG front bumper.

I don´t like SACs. Always say the best of the bunch is the X6 M. But if you leave that beast aside, I think the GLE has the most interest side profile of the segment. and the non-M X6 looks a bit so so. When the second generation comes out, I expect the GLE to be a stunner.

Im about to order a white GLE 350d Coupé with AMG Pack but without Night Pack.

Does anybody have real life pics of such a car? I've seen many professional pics but those doesn't do the job for me.

EDIT: I just saw the pics of the 450 above. Sorry guys :D

MB revealed in an interview GLE Coupe order entry looks very, very strong. :)

You want to launch 10 all-new models. Where can you still expand in your product range?

There are complementary niches where we can achieve profitable volume. Every now and then we give a glimpse [of where we might be headed] like we did with the Vision GLC Coupe at the Shanghai auto show. It’s an interesting niche. We just entered this segment [for coupe-styled crossovers] one class above with the GLE Coupe. Order entry looks very, very strong. I see some potential in SUV segments. I also see some room to grow in compact cars, not in the current generation but longer term. Automotive News Europe

Thanks for the comparo, @Wolfgang :-) The current german configurator features Palladium for the GLE and not (yet?) Selenite. The IAA picture could also be Designo Graphite. I don't know, that lighting on the floor in Frankfurt can play tricks with your eyes. In a week we know what it is.

Is Steel Grey the same as Tenorite?

Selenite seems to have more depth than Palladium. It should be nice.
