Did BMW put much effort onto the LCI i7 architecture?
Faster charging speed, Gen6 batteries, much greater range now at 728km, which is very good, all done in conjunction with Rimac, chassis completely revised in electronics and dynamics, now with 5.5 degrees rear steering which is much more than before, and more things that I don't remember now, in short, they did a lot.

Thank you.

It would be very interesting to read an in depth comparison/analysis about the drivetrain approaches, battery technology, motor tech etc. being adopted by the premium manufacturers.

Im also very interested to see if MBs axial flux motors provide them with an advantage or if the performance efficiency of these motors can be offset enough by gains elsewhere.

This cabin was designed 5 years before BMW.

Undesirable at is, the EQS seems to have a decent offering of drivetrains.
The fundamental issue with the i7, is that it's designed to be both EV and ICE. It is therefore fundamentally compromised. There's a reason the i3 and iX3 are better EVs than the i4, 5 and 7.

Some parts a little less, some parts a little more. Fact is that BMW calls it the most extensive facelift in the company's history.

This is what makes the 7er/i7 so successful, and yet you make it sound like it's a negative.
Compromised against what? Compromised against some hypothetical non existing upper segment EV luxury sedan?

It has zero competition.

I'm not commenting on the i7 as a product. But rather from an engineering perspective.

Compromised in that it physically has to accommodate an ICE powertrains as well as an EV powertrain. Which means it's packaging is compromised. It needs a transmission tunnel and space in the floor for exhaust piping etc. Which means it's taller than an ICE sedan. And this also means that when you put in the batteries, it has less interior room than it could with a flat floor that is more typical of EVs.

It's the entire reason that the i3 uses NK and the G50 uses CLAR. Because an architecture designed specifically for being an EV, will be better at being an EV.

It's not like BMW doesn't recognise this compromise. This is why the NK i3 will be vastly superior to the i4 based on CLAR.

It has zero competition.
Nothing to do with my point.

It's the signature move of the repeat offending troll.
He’s a die hard Mercedes Benz fan.

But we have die hard BMW fans in this forum as well, so what.

Sometimes I agree with both and sometimes with none of them.

Beauty will always be in the eye of the beholder.

And most of the discussions are about the design of the cars.

He thinks the 7er looks ridiculous in comparison, at least on these 2 pics.

I agree.

And that is fair ground. And it is an opinion that can be articulated in words rather than emojis. That promotes (hopefully constructive) discussion and debate. Excessive use of emojis can lead to the suspicion that those posting them may be adolescents, unable to express themselves cohesively. Pertaining explicity to @leylandi, I do not at all have this suspicion. I do, however, wish that he would have responded with the explanation that you have presented. Based on what you think that he thinks. Leylandi can be quite eloquent. He does not require help.

Comparing low-quality, almost black and white photos with a high-quality photo of another car is a childish tactic and can give a false impression if the car in the color photo were a different one., but not in the case of the EQS.
You could put a wrecked 7 Series next to the EQS and the latter wouldn't look the best.
