An interesting, easily understandable "everyday" sort of review:

I don't think that there will be another EQS. Next s-class is going to be fully electric only, so what's the point of using the EQS name instead of the S-class badge?

All these sub-brands like EQ, BMW i or Audi e-tron will be obsolete at some point.
So silly of Mercedes to waste S-Class equity on this jellybean. I get that the W223 probably was not developed with full-electric in mind but goodness is the EQS such a missed opportunity. Similar story with the GLS/GLS Maybach: The S in "GLS or EQS" should mean more to Mercedes as it's there most iconic model. You can't just throw that letter around all willy nilly and expect customers to fall for it.

It may be that they become obsolete and return to the same or that the ones that are there prevail, I don't think they even know, but momentarily and given the speed of change they serve their purpose

BMW was always "330i" so from that to today "i3-30" is still the 3 series very clearly and only changing the place of the i

Audi could unite its history and future and call them A8-Quattron ?

Mercedes hopefully eliminates the EQ line and keeps the "Class", surely when all its cars are EVs

As if that is the norm for the thousands of EQS’ leaving the line. A dubious YouTuber.

Some really interesting feedback from a guy that I respect like few others.

The electric car saga is pure, undiluted politics. The "WOKE" car culture tied to Trillions $ of Government's invested money ?.
Tesla pushed the envelope and the rest is playing catchup in a nasty sometimes cheap and dangerous way.
Too much Sci-Fi = Less Automobile for its intended purpose.
The screen crazy ? fetish is driven by Tech-and-OEM's as a means to lure customers. Yet I rarely read a review or watch a YouTubers review and read the comments where ANYBODY praises the screens. No, it's always a: "Thank God this one has at least a few hard buttons for these and that functions ".
In the end the consumer is going to SHOUT the loudest....OK given that's IF the Chinese market doesn't shout SCREENS PLEASE! ? because then the rest of consumer reports and money will be CANCELED "culture" for China ?? will dictate what we drive in future.

Time to Leave Earth ?

Yeah I hate that Mercedes’ is being pushed into a direction that doesn’t make functional sense. There is no way buttons should be totally eliminated or that their seat controls don’t actually move anymore. There were a hallmark of the brand. I love older Benzes more and more now. Each regressive generation gets more and more desirable.

My take:

The commercial success (or failure) of the EQS/EQE sedans will define M-Bs' future executive/luxury segment modus operandi. I have a nagging suspicion (simply premonition) that the "One Bow" design paradigm will be present a longevity similar to that of Vanilla Ice. We see that the necessity of that particular design in order to ensure top drag coefficient figures is highly debatable. The Vision EQXX may be a relatively accurate precursor of what next-generation M-B low-ride height vehicles may present (albeit with somewhat larger footprints). And the immensely rapid rate of progress regarding the efficiency of electric drivetrains will alleviate any reservations with regard to range and/or sustainable performance. This leaves me optimistic that M-B will be able to "get with the program" of presenting genuinely exceptional automobiles. As we know, they've actually done precisely that on occasion. In addition, M-B automobiles have often been "hit or miss" throughout history, often the allure of the brand veiling what were not-so-good cars after all. Hence, this situation isn't really all that new.

Found this pic on ig.
I like the EQS. Have test driven it, its a gorgeous car. Some people complain about its one-bow design, i like it. With this roofline it looks almost like a 4-door coupe + because its design, its the most aerodynamic serial production car.
