EQS (V297) [Official] Mercedes-Benz EQS

The Mercedes-Benz EQS (V297) is a battery electric full-size luxury liftback car produced by Mercedes-Benz Group and part of the Mercedes-Benz EQ family. Production: May 2021- Model years: 2022–
I was curious, so taking @Sonder's location to be Slovenia... Based on the finance offer for 20,000km/year... I make the fuel bill for the S580* about €250/month**, with the EQS 580*** ranging from €58/month at home, to €65/month on standard chargers, to €98/month on fast chargers***

* S580 EPA range 20 mpg US combined
** €1.268/litre average for August so far
*** EQS580 average of 21.8-17.4 kWh/100km
**** based on "Let's go to Electricity" pricing in Slovenia and a domestic rate of 0.179€/kWh for domestic customers

Saving for the EQS is going to be between €150 - €200 (ish!) per month, based on fuel only.

Thats 1.666 km/month
For that i need 3-4 full tanks for the S580, thats 300-400 €

It's apparently a 100l tank in the S580, so ~€126 to fill the tank... 3-4 full tanks will be €380-507/month. However, that means your consumption is 18-24 litres per 100km, instead of the EPA estimate (I gather that's more realistic than Euro cycles?) of 11.76l/100km.. so TWICE as much, roughly. If you are that heavy footed, your consumption in the EQS would surely also be similarly effected, potentially doubling your electricity costs also.

edit: FWIW @Sonder I hope you do get one, it's only fitting for the EQS's biggest champion on the forum to be rolling on those electron powered 22" dubs.

my driving is mostly in the city

charging on the fast stations is for free in almost every bigger city in Slovenia

yeah because i drive most of time in city

So, a large part of your mileage could be done on the pure electric part of the drive train, further reducing your fuel bill. 20,000km/year = 55km/day, S580 E-only range, 100km... problem solved!

that would be the best solution if the 223 would look better in my eyes then the EQS, but it does not

i must confess that also the onyx looks very prestigious
+ i dont know about you guys, but actually i dont need the hyperscreen...with this beautiful ''reliefoptik'' the cockpit looks like a sculpture, but still futuristic

A non-AMG model, but i painted the side skirts and front/rear shields in classic Polarweiss and gave him some nice wallnut (which reminds me a little of the Zebranno from the w124 and w126) interor. Looks quite proper to me...

interesting, that the hightech silber is the most chosen on the configurator...
also these wheels looking hot

^ Yes, we are going to have to deal with it sadly. Though spamming official threads with random photos is against the TOS. Yes we get it @Sonder, Mercedes has a configurator. Nobody cares about a bazillion pictures of your configurations for crying out loud.

Don't expect the amount for energy to be that low with the EV. If you spend 300-400 Euro per month for fuel, this means that you travel about 3000 km per month. And 3000 km per month are equal to app 600 kWh. If you charge it at home with 11 kW it can cost you less (depending on the local price for a kWh) but on the public fast chargers it will cost you about 350-400 Euro.

FastNed is more expensive than gasoline actually in my experience with an i3s: roughly 25 Euros for realistically 200 km. WTF! You need modern high tech fast loading batteries, I can tell you that. With lots of range.

Like a Tesla pretty much.

In Slovenia we have many charging systems which are for free, at home the price is 9 cent/kW hour, so the 30-40 €/Month for the EQS is quite real in my situation

At home in Slovenia you will be lucky to draw f'ing 5 KW AC current. Between your power outages that is, of course.

What tread is this? The Sonder tread?

...although I do appreciate the postings of the configurator images. They are helping me growing a bit more accustomed to the EQS' exterior visual. In fact, in a still quite remote manner, I'm beginning to oh so gradually like it.

I do refrain from reading the contributing posters' accompanying commentary though.

I don’t understand what you are saying.
Again:
- in Slovenia we have more then enough fast charging stations which are for FREE
- in the business building where i have my office, we have fast charging stations which are for FREE
- if i want, i can charge at home for 9 cents/kW hour (classically around 12 hours or with wallbox 8 hours)

thats why i’m saying, that driving with the EQS would cost me around 300 € less, then with the 223 580.

Some fast chargers rips you with 65 cents per kW. In that case driving an EV is more expensive than an ICE.

To charge the battery of the EQS are needed 112 kWh gross battery capacity and 10% lost during charging all together about 125 kWh. That's quite an amount to be for free for a long time especially with the increase of the numbers of the EVs.

??‍♂️ We will see what will come, but for now its still for free.
But yes, it sure wont be forever, also the price of electricity will go up, its logical.

Folks,

Let me remind you all to keep the discussion about the car instead of personally shifting it about members. Posters who keep on personally attacking or mocking each other are prone to lose access to participating in this thread.

As for the overloading of pictures, we need to remind you all that you can start a new, picture-only thread, if you find a picture or a set of pictures that you feel is worthy of sharing for the sake of sharing or posting it. If you feel that the picture you are sharing is contributing to the discussion of the topic, post it here to use it as a point to emphasize the point you're trying to explain.

Thanks!

I asked my dealer for an EQS offer, but lease rates for the EQS are significantly higher as compared to the ones he offered my for a new W223 four weeks ago.

That’s actually odd as I expect that depreciation for BEV’s over the contract period will be less than an ICE. Floodgates of BEV’s start to open now and I think that in 4 years time many more of them will be on the roads.

@MrRapp: Calculated EQS depreciation is higher as compared to the W223.
In 4 years a lot can change. Even in one year: For the W223 S580 current residual value is higher than for the S500 in 2020 which means a lower lease rate.
