Fair point. Execution could always be worse. The best example of this is the nose pick grill on the iX3

Different ways of looking at things, my reaction was positive, another grill design (another one), which at such depth added to the effect of the upper half.

I was wondering why the amg looked so much better than the regular EQS although they barely changed anything. My conclusing is: It's the ride height. The standard EQS is like a bus :P the lowered suspension does wonders to the overall stance.

I think this whole EQ line-up could be saved with a proper facelift. They need to get rid of this front design and offer a sportier suspension option. The rest is quite nice actually.

For me the it's the body panel gaps, when you don't see them the design looks much cleaner. I'm still not liking the overall shape of these cars, but I need to still look like quality. You know how an unattractive Lexus LS looked like quality still, say the 1995 model lol. Unattractive, but still looked like a well made piece. We can only pray that Mercedes makes some stunning coupes/convertibles, pure AMG products once the EV transition is complete. I mean a skateboard/EV architecture can support just about any body style right?

The EQS was always more "odd" than outright "ugly" exterior wise. And the AMG version is indeed an improvement. Still, better things may come for those who (can) wait-in the form of the BMW i7, the production Audi Grand Sphere (plus Porsche & Bentley derivatives) and M-Bs' own M-B.EA/AMG.EA platformed cars. It may be wise to hold on to those G11/12s', W223s' and D5s' just a bit longer.

You don’t get hate because you like the EQS AMG line. That’d be absurd, mate ?

Just when I saw that pic at first glance 9n isnta I really liked it ...maybe the all black hiding the panel gaps and extra cuts in the body but that pic I think looks a cool car..

I know I'll get hate but I actually like this picture and stance

I detest those alloys.

I'm also failing to get excited about the AMG variant. Such a huge part of AMGs DNA has been its engines. With this launch it seems like there is something major missing...literally. How much can EV drivetrains really be differentiated?

I especially hate the EQS, because Gorden Wagener recently stated that it's impossible to make a good looking electric sedan and that's BS!

Porsche Taycan, Audi e-Tron GT, Tesla Model S and Toyota Mirai* are electric sedans and they look way nicer than any of the Mercedes' EV sedan efforts so far.

I think the Cadillac Celestiq** will prove Gorden Wagener wrong.

*
I know it runs on hydrogen, but it still is an electric vehicle nonetheless.

**
If the Celestiq ever make it to production that is. If it does, then Cadillac will make Gordie look like a f#cking idiot.

Wagener was actually referring to the "3-Box sedan".

But yes-his statement was arguably a bit poorly contemplated.

Wasn’t the Celestiq suppose to be shown this summer? Is it still on or as the project been scrapped?

Porsche Taycan, Audi e-Tron GT,
These cars utilize foot garage in the rear seating compartment where battery cells are sacrificed in order to accommodate for proper legroom.
Toyota Mirai
Unlike the above mentioned or the Teslas, the Mirai doesn't utilize a skateboard chassis.

Tesla Model S

The Teslas shows it can be done. Perhaps G-Wag's statement may be more of an indicator of how far behind M-B's battery and e-motor tech is compared to Tesla's?

Getting ready for my EQS!

I received a confirmation that my EQS will be built in late October and decided to get ready by installing a combo (AC=J1772) and DC (CCS-1) charger at home. We have several EVs and plan to own two EQS' (one sedan and one SUV) so the charger has two independent chargers: a DC with a max speed of 21KWH and an AC with a max speed of 7.6KWH. I wanted to test the new charger so I rented a Porsche Taycan on Turo for 24hrs. Attached is a video of CCS charging of the Taycan with the new device. The Taycan is beautiful, drives like a charm but *very* thirsty (5% battery drain for 7mi ride at speed limits). The model I tested is a Taycan 4S that has similar power as my upcoming EQS580.
