Fake grille? I don't care. Much prefer it to vast expanse of blackness to house all those sensor, radars, etc. I like the solution that the Polestar concept employs.

Fake vents? Hate 'em, but they are so endemic, I'm resigned to it.

Aint nothing wrong with pushups

See, this is an area where I have a strong opinion. I'm just not a fan of false advertisements. Whatever they are, shout it loud, shout it proud. They are all lovely.

to wow people like Sunny into thinking this is symbolic to EV prowess-
I don't know what you are talking about. I like form following function. Always have. That is what endeared me to German cars in the first place. Not fake shit.

Also since when did the the vertical bars become an AMG brand identity? It is a recent thing Wagner pulled out of the ass. No one will shed a tear it if an AMG EV didn't have fake vertical bars. The fake vertical bars on the AMG eqs is beyond stupid.

I am surprised they didn't add fake exhausts given that some EQEs seen to have it -

Maybe saving it for the future. I can't wait for the stupid excuses that will follow.

I think the Taycan is a poor example of this as Porsche’s grilles have never been part of their “down the road recognizability” other than some blacked out area low on the front bumper. The Panamera has bigger openings as necessary but it’s similarly minimized in the front of the car. The Taycan’s remaining black trim in the front
Perhaps you may have missed my point; I should've emphasized that the Taycan - like other Porsches - doesn't need a grille for recognizability. Hence, it shouldn't be a must-have trying to emulate a brand identity only to end up with an amorphous black blob as a modern interpretation (or substitute) of a legacy identifier.

I was never arguing that a brand needs a grille. The difference here being, of course, is that a Porsche’s absence of a prominent grille was their distinctive factor all along. Them adding one of the Taycan would be of character for the brand as a whole and obviously unnecessary.

Mercedes, who has focused on ornamental grilles nearly since their inception, has a natural incentive to keep some sort of central front signature as a focal point. Whether that execution was good enough on the EQS is a different criticism in my opinion.

If the car would be really all black, then it would be the right Knight Rider :)

The black EQS 53 is making me reconsider the stance on the design. It is starting - slowly - to make some sense. The hidden cutoff lines help. I still wish they don’t keep everything under the “one bow” design. A two bow design, a’la Vision 6 Coupe, would work wonders.

Yes, I would bet on a 63 model too since they're calling a 700hp EV a mere "53". They know they need a 1000+ hp AMG EV to tackle Tesla.

I think the black hides the things we don't like ...I need to see it in real but design wise so far it's not a beauty not ugly but yeah I wish it was better as a MB fan but I guess they chose aero over beauty ..will wait to see it before I pass my final judgement but yes the S class is a beauty this will max be okish.

They will use this semiconductor shortage problem to further delay the launch of 63s everywhere.

S63 is kind of late. EQS63 it will be at least one year from now. C"63" also is going to be late

They will sell as many of the base models as possible , and when the time will be right , they will keep the hype up by getting the 63s on the street.

Win-win
