The stardust looks non impressive in real life looked at it for a second and that was it it doesn't wow you. I personally like the audi active lights they look amazing. And no im not an audi fan boy i have 2013 E63 so iam an e class man but yes Audi lights are better in my opinion. The E class lights in real life (both front and rear) didnt make me feel wow these looks so modern i feel they are already lagging behind they resemble way too much to the C class, its not like the old days you could tell the E from a C now you really have to look hard but thats mercedes choice to do that. The common person will not be able to easily recognize the difference.

We could spend the next couple of pages on this thread discussing the merits of the Mercedes-Benz lighting tech vs. Audi's so let's just agree to disagree.

After all, what is being discussed is really a styling trait and styling is a very subjective matter. FWIW, I think the 'star dust' effect looks very impressive (especially at night).

I went to the dealership thinking I would spend most of my time inspecting the new E-class, but instead I spent most of my time inside the pair of white S63 sedan and Coupe, that S63 sedan, fully optioned, blew everything away.

Anyway back to the E-class. Here are my quick impressions, I will write a more detailed review tomorrow when I wake up.

Initially I mistaken the E class for a C-class, party because the new design does a great job at hiding the size of the car, and mainly because the differences of the front end between the two are a bit too subtle IMO. The side profile is the best part of the design, it is nicely balanced, and the proportion is flawless. The star dust effect tail lights are a bit difficult to spot from a distance.

The interior is a nice mix between the C and the S class. The materials used for the interior felt and look the same. The size of the twin screen really took me by surprise, it span across half of the dashboard. I don't know if a driver can take in all the information and look across such a large area when driving. The seats are noticeably more supportive and thicker than the one on the C-class. The stitching also look more luxurious too.

The gloss black lower dashboard panel was a significant disappointment though, it felt cheap and flimsy.

Me too, spent a good amount of time in an S63 when I went to check out the E

I mean I had already seen/sat in the new E at the auto show, but I wanted to see if they had a luxury version and they didn't. It seems that MBUSA is pushing the sport model more than the luxury model once again.

There was noticeably less legroom in the back, compared to the Euro model they had at the auto show.

Trunk is also small visually for a medsize sedan.

Also disappointed since it was very basic.

They were advertising $569 a month lease I think.

Asked about the E43, they said December.
But if I were to get one, I'd get one of these personalized tags along with it

Yup. As Mick says. That's just a design detail, not a technological advantage. It just wouldn't work with the shape of the rear lights.

Audi have it in the front lights as well since 2013, it would work with the front lights on the E class? anyway i think they look nicer and are a step up from the current lights the E-Class use my personal opinion.

I thought it was roomier. Maybe it's because it had the pano roof and this one didn't or my mind is playing games with me

Manual transmission. Look at the middle console, doesn't look like black gloss plastic to me.

Alot of changes to the center console just like the C-class. It doesnt have the touch pad, I wonder if this is only available with the auto box.

According to jesmb the touch pad will only be available in combination with 9G-tronic

Yes it looks like a carbon fibre type trim for the bottom section where gear lever and Center console is and top section where ventilation it looks like the gloss black plastic.

Unfortunately no, I didn't have time, there was a 2 hour waiting list and the dealer only had one demo car. I will go back there when I am free.
