E-Class (W213/C238/A238) [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213

The Mercedes-Benz W213 is the fifth generation of the E-Class range. Body styles: sedan/saloon (W213), wagon/estate (S213), long wheelbase (V213), coupé (C238), cabriolet (A238). Production: 2016–2023. Predecessor: W212 E-Class. Successor: W214 E-Class, C236/A236 CLE.
The E500 with 435hp is not much more powerful than the previous model 408hp, in fact its less than the current S500/SL500 which has 455hp as well as the 550i with 450hp. Ok it is impressive power for a I6 engine for sure but in my opinion is not required in the range when there is a lesser AMG model E55 with 490hp. The E55 will be 81hp less powerful than the regular E63 and 122hp less than the E63 S while been 123hp more than the E400 so it fills the gap perfectly between E400 and E63 S.

LOL, either you guys are difficult to please or I am easily impressed. I think it's pretty impressive that their turbo inline-6 yields that much power when 5 years ago, an 8-cyl was producing that much power. In my view, M-B's petrol V6's were trailing their competition, and with the eventual introduction these inline-6's (and the current V6 in the C/E43's), they'll leapfrog them. My only slight concern is long-term durability and reliability, however, seeing as how M-B is reverting to M-B of yore, I feel confident they'll do fine.

Meh, an E500 with 'only' 435 hp is really not impressive at all. It being an I6 is nice, but 435 hp for the 500 is not nice.

Well, the f/l W212 E550 with it`s 4.2liter bi-turbo V8 developed 408ps. (402hp)
For an inline 6, that jump in power is a healthy step imo. The V8 powered W212 E550 with 4-Matic pulled off
a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds with a 1/4 mile time of 13.0 seconds @111mph according to Car&Driver.

The W213 E500 is will be lighter than the W212 E550 V8 with a more efficient 9-Speed autobox so you know it`s speed (and performance) will be improved.

I am digging the fact that the E500 (and especially E55) names are revived. :t-applaus

All this about the new E500 not having enough power is just nonsense. It will have more power than before, be lighter and have a new gearbox so it will no doubt outperform the current E550/500. Furthermore it doesn't need to be more powerful with a new E55 right there. This E500 will likely be a luxury trim only model, if it even comes to the U.S. I would bet we will get the E300, E400, E55, E63. The new E400 will be the go to model for people who don't want a 4-cylinder E300 and don't want a E55. I'll take an E55 if this numbers are true.

amazing figures for 6 cylinders.. what they need to do now is to push the 63amg models into more extreme looks, there needs to be a difference on the outside not only the inside between the amg¨s

Perhaps the 43 brand stays on the C class range of vehicles with straight 6 and 55 on E and above. It is less likely that C class will get the 55 moniker as the power output is more than base 63 variant and 7HP less than the S version.

Maybe that will be for the FL C-class, the C63 could be elevated to 400kw (544PS) and then the C63 S could get the base E63 powerplant and produce 420kw (571PS).

^^ I'm not sure if AMG will up the power game for C. Anything over 500HP is too much for that class of vehicle.

Yeah true 500hp is huge for a compact saloon, but then most rivals are approaching the same power level, Alfa Giulia QV (510hp), BMW M4 GTS (500hp) and forecoming Audi RS4 (500hp) so maybe AMG will want to put some distance between them and rivals, lets wait and see.

The four- and eight-cylinder engines in the Mercedes-AMG family have great potential for more power and torque if the need arises, the company claims.

Speaking to CarAdvice at the launch of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet in Italy this week, the head of Mercedes-AMG Engine development, Janko Wicke, confirmed that both the four-cylinder and new V8 engines have significant potential for more power, if the market demands it.

The V8 appears to have the most potential, with current power outputs in the C63 S of 375kW and 700Nm likely to be overtaken in the near future.

“We have scopes to increase power [on the V8] but no numbers yet of what we are planning to do. That is probably next year’s target.” Wicke told CarAdvice.

Wicke said that both software and hardware changes are feasible for a power upgrade.

“It will be both, we are looking for both, but the basic engine will continue to be the same engine family, so the power is good and could be increased in the future.”"

^^ i know the engine is quiet capable. The question is whether a RWD C63s needs more than 500HP. M4 GTS will be taken care by the C63 Black Series anyway.

Mercedes' 2017 E-class wagon gets sportier

The 2017 Mercedes E-class wagon scheduled to arrive in U.S. dealerships early next year has thinner taillights and a wider tailgate handle than the outgoing model.

The next-generation Mercedes-Benz E-class wagon gets sportier styling, akin to the redesigned 2017 E300 sedan from which it is derived.

The new wagon, which is to arrive in U.S. dealerships early next year, features thinner taillights, a roof spoiler with an LED brake light, two reflectors and a wider tailgate handle.

Mercedes says the 2017 wagon will come with a fold-down third-row bench seat as standard. It will be powered by a 3.0-liter, V-6 biturbo engine that makes 329 hp, compared with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that delivers 241 hp on the 2017 E300 sedan.

Just like I said above. Only here some dude rates your post as winner, and when I say it as old. But then again this dude has serious issues.
Hilariously funny. But I love getting dislikes, olds and disagrees from the little dictator.

E500 with 435 hp is nothing whatsoever special. I don't care about them potentially using an I6 for that.
BMW's '500' is at 450 hp now, and there's supposed to be a quad turbo I6 with 500 hp in not too long.

Well, the f/l W212 E550 with it`s 4.2liter bi-turbo V8 developed 408ps. (402hp)
For an inline 6, that jump in power is a healthy step imo.

Once again, I am only talking about the power and not the engine type. I am well aware of the fact that an I6 is the MB fan's wet dream by now, as it's being mentioned every single day for about a year already.
And the V8 with 408 hp was pathetic to begin with, so having more power than that is not something to write home about.

I don't think it's impressive. This has been happening for year already. A little 4 pot makes more power than a V8 from 5 years ago. Happens everywhere, among all makers.

And for now, this whole I6 thing is a wet dream anyways. We'll see it when it gets here.

I feel confident they'll do fine.

Oh me too, this is not the issue. Of course they'll do fine, they always do.

I'm very impressed by the new diesels although i miss the era when you can have a 6 cylinder with just 129 bhp.
I know, the downsizing it's the future, but the note from the engine and the exhaust is what i miss the most.
I have a friend who buys bmw since 1994, and he cange them every 3 years (he do about 60.000km a year), and i remember the 525tds with just 143bhp. But the noise was the one of a 6 cylinder! I was disappointed this year when he bought the new 525d and i discovered that the 218hp is a 4 pot, because the older one is a 204hp 6 pot.
It's quick but i miss something.
Anyway, i want to go to test at the local dealer the new e200d when it will arrive.
I honestly was "impressed" by the just 136bhp w212 7g-tronic.
I think that would be a good daily.
In my passat now i have the 1.9tdi with just 131hp, and it's enough. This morning going to work i barely reached the 40km/h and shifted to the 5th gear.
Same story yesterday, coming back from the sea, in the motorway, the maximum speed i did was the 110km/h.
I'm a big fan like you of horsepower, but i cannot remeber when was the last time that i used all of them.
Maybe i'm getting older, but the only thing that you can do, now, on a street, is sit down, put in drive and relax, waking up only sometimes, for screaming behind a mommy with a suv, talking at mobile, that cut your way.

Well all I know is that a Benz is PERFECT for you.

Well all I know is that a Benz is PERFECT for you.

Untill i'm in a street you are perfectly right, although i feel the urge of a fast car of the 80s.
When i will finish to build my house and move in with my future wife, "i'll be back".
I have already planned a 2 store garage, but i have left some extra land next to it, for a future project !
