Went to see it live today.
My impressions:
It looks so much smaller than my car (w212) parked next to it.
It is very much more elegant, but its not in the least an imposing design, and that's not only down to the soft curves of the design, cause the C class and S class can look pretty menacing.
The head lights are really much better irl, and the grill (avantgarde) fits the car very well.
The inside is super nice, the AMG seats are amazing, but the interior gives an impression of being much tighter than the W212, very sporty and in the face, while the W212 feels airy and vast.
Rear seats are super, no problems with room.
Note: All damn cars were black inside all 10 of them. And also none of them had the dual screen cockpit. And each and everyone had the AMG package. So factor that into my comments above.
Maybe a lighter colored interior would feel less claustrophobic.
Finally i think that BMW fans might really like the E class AMG interior..it gave a BMWesque feeling when it comes to being tight and driver focused.
All in all a very nice car, beautiful but very vanilla.
Inside is amazing no doubt, maybe some more airiness would be nice.
It did NOT wow me, and it does NOT give me that : GOT TO HAVE IT! feeling.
PS
I do think MB played it safe with this one, so that they can go all in on the CLS for the customers that want more flair. Let's wait and see.
I will not be switching my E for a new E though.
Possibly the new CLS, or i might do something shocking and change brand
