E-Class (W213/C238/A238) [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213

The Mercedes-Benz W213 is the fifth generation of the E-Class range. It succeeded the W212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models (C238/A238) share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. Production: February 2016–2023. Model years: 2017–2023.
I do wonder how much does it cost MB or the dealers to offer the exclusive line option, also how much extra will it cost MB and the dealers to set the proper specification and options for exclusive line cars so they can look appealing to customers.

Good question that I wish I was privy to. Some of these decisions really seem nonsensical until the rationale and data is presented. All I know is people seem to really trust MBUSA's new-ish CEO, Dietmar Exlar.

My understanding is that it is Mercedes Benz Australia that is trying to save money and offer 'lines' instead of letting owners spec their own options. It also saves time and minimise mistakes in the ordering process. You can't blame Mercedes Aust. for doing so as Mercedes is demanding many markets to move to the same regime.
I am fine with them offering lines and packages , my issues is with the lack of choices for interior trims and wheels, we have one wood trim and one metallic weave trim for both Avantgarde and AMG line cars, two wood trim option for Exclusive line. No wheel choices available, not even as an optional extra.

My dealer said they can swap the AMG line multi spoke wheel with the 5 twin spoke wheel on the E43 when we take delivery of the car since the price is the same for both style of wheel. Also surprisingly the 19'' AMG wheel is only $100 AUD cheaper per wheel.

Why offer it all? Because it's low hanging fruit. Someone will buy it and MBUSA is content because they were able to gain that sale with minimal investment. I agree it's not very Mercedes-Benz like if we look at what they've done in the past, but that's exactly why they started falling behind in the late 2000's/early part of this decade. Stakeholders, company culture, and prestige all lie in a careful balance that must evolve over time...who knows where the market will take us next.

There were early hints that MBUSA wasn't afraid to throw some cheap options out there. The typically very lightly optioned short wheel base W220 S350 was definitely a test.

Still doesn't really excuse it, that is my point. It's a shitty option. Just because it isn't popular it doesn't have to be a crappy version of an otherwise really good car.

I was in singapore today saw a black Eclusive pack it really looks very very nice car.

I just can not get why MB uk doea not offer this is UK its just plain stupid in my view..

Whats the issue Singapore is also right had drive so thats can not be a problem..

Definately the private taxi and hotel guys alone would buy them let alone general public.

Crazy decision.

Nicely shot ad, but I am not sure if this is the message Mercedes wants to send, it just seems like they are trying too hard to be cool.

Saw a diamond silver E 350d today, the color isn't as blue as it used to be? Or perhaps it is just the lighting.

Hmm, if you ask me, it's the lighting. It's a colour seldom seen here in The Netherlands and Germany. I see quite some hyazinth red ones though... beautiful colour really fitting the E. @fortuner is owning such a nice red one.

From what I have seen on the road, the diamond metallic silver is gaining popularity, my neighbor's C 250d is in that color, as well as a S 600 which is two blocks away. The color looks very elegant under most lighting but it can appear to be a little bit too blue at times.

Hyacinth red is probably the rarest of all, I see more magno grey than red. Having said that I have seen the color on the C class, GLC and the GLE, it seems to be a popular color among Indian owners.

Korean reviews of the E 400 in exclusive trim. Also include some performance data. 0-100km/h in around 5.6 sec. which is sufficiently quick for a mid seize sedan. If we have any Korean members who can help me translate what they are saying.

From 0 - 100 in 5.6 is a really bad number, I have achieved it in almost 5.0 flat with my E400, if anyone is interested I can PM the video of my accleration attemps to him and he can edit it to upload it and give the exact acceleration figures

Yeap, send it straight to my PM thanks! The official figure is around 5.2 sec right? It is pretty impressive considering the car weighs over 1800 kg.

This didn't take long, I thought nobody is going to buy the E 350d exclusive line but it was sold within 2 weeks, meanwhile the red E 350d AMG and the white E 400 is still sitting in the showroom.

One would think head of design, Wagener would have extensive access to high-quality press photos...
