it seems that the US E will have the elegance grill but you'll notice it isn't heavily featured in any of the large pictures which leads me to think that they're going to push the sport line harder. Kind of silly to think that a big ass three pointed star is going to drive sales further. Shame for the fans of the traditional look. damn shame.

So i was configuring a new E class and i found that 1) the luxury grille is only offered in the E350 (which we already know) and it also only come with those cheap 17" alloy wheels which is a turn off and 2) the driver assistance package has a funny looking grille with the tri point star which embeds he radar and the tri point on the hood

I can count with one hand the E 550 models I have seen around. They are already very scarce. Better them cutting the V8 from the E than the V12 from the S, I suppose.

Losing the V8 doesn't make sense IMO. You're going to replace it with a V6 that has just 27-30 more hp and while the turbo has much better torque, it can't match the E550's V8. Audi, BMW, and Jaguar all have regular V8s in their models and Cadillac has a new 420hp turbo V6 for the CTS V-Sport, and here Mercedes is dropping the V8 to make room for a 329hp V6? So now the S6, 550i and Jaguar XF Supercharged all go unanswered? Isn't like Mercedes.

They did the same thing here in the Australian market. There is now a HUGE price gap between an E400 and base level S350. I really don't understand why the 550/500 is being killed off so hastily. Seems like a 'downgrade'.

Such a shame the 'Elegance' grill is not offered anymore here in Australia. It thoroughly modernises the front end. Dumb move MB Australia.

The E class should have only standard grille. The car is meant to be elegant and modern but conservative, not sporty. The sport grille fits the C better than the E. Just my opinion.

From a distance it actually bears an uncanny resemblance to the w220. Looks much better with the classic grille as seen here from an eBay auction.
