E-Class (W212/C207/A207) [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W212) Facelift

The Mercedes-Benz W212 is the fourth generation of the E-Class range. It is the successor to the W211 E-Class. Body styles: four-door sedan/saloon (W212) and five-door estate/wagon (S212). Coupé and convertible models of the W212 E-Class generation are W204 C-Class based and known as the C207 and A207, replacing the CLK-Class (C209 and A209) coupé and cabriolet. Production: March 2009 – January 2016 (sedan), December 2009 – May 2016 (station wagon).
''Our afternoon spent traversing the Spanish countryside in the E400 revealed satisfyingly robust performance, with smooth but strong acceleration and capable handling. But it was the following day—spent piloting the 577-hp E63 AMG 4Matic S-Model through the limestone spires of Montserrat—that offered an otherworldly experience that defies what you'd expect from a 2-ton sedan. Roaring and fast, yet surprisingly sure-footed thanks to a new all-wheel-drive system that diverts 67 percent of power to the rear wheels, this four-door has claimed a 0-to-60-mph time of 3.5 seconds that nudges it into supercar territory, all wrapped in a stealthy package befitting a businessman's commuting car.

Our brain might say E400, but our heart screams for the E63 AMG 4Matic. Our wallet, however, prefers the E400 Hybrid or E250 BlueTEC.

looks like the new engine in the 400 series is good. But still i don't want the 4.7 v8 to die off just like that. They should give it more power to justify the higher price

''It's sportier than ever, but the E-Class still comes across as a bit stodgy because of Mercedes-Benz conventions such as the steering-column-mounted shift stalk and the door-mounted seat adjustments.

i hope that the facelift e will have some degree of 'fun to drive element'' to it

Production in Sindelfingen changed over. Took just 45 minutes to switch, a record. :)

First new Mercedes-Benz E-Class rolls off the line in Sindelfingen.

Since the start of the series about 60 years ago in Sindelfingen, this model is a world benchmark in its segment. With over 13 million units sold it's the most successful business sedan in its segment.

"The start of our new E-Class represents a milestone in our growth strategy. With the E-Class we set new standards in the luxury class, to optimally satisfy our customer's wishes," said Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard, Member of the Board of Daimler AG, Production and Procurement Mercedes-Benz Cars & Mercedes-Benz Vans. "In just 45 minutes we made the transition from the previous to the new E-Class - that is benchmark."

With the new E-Class the changeover time between model changes was reduced significantly. It took only 45 minutes to ensure that about 2,000 new parts are seamlessly integrated into the new production process. This was made possible by an excellent collaboration between development, production planning, logistics and production. It envolved the entire process chain, from the stamping plant with the production of the new body panels, on to the adjustments in body assembly and paint, geared to the requirements of the new E-Class. Thus from the start the typical Mercedes top quality is assured.

Dr. Willi Reiss, Head of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Sindelfingen: "What our team has done with the launch of the E-Class is great. Only shortly after the start of the CLS Shooting Brake, we succeeded again to provide a new Sindelfingen top product on wheels. For this achievement, I wish to thank all the employees involved."

The most visible changes result from a new front end, with the Elegance and Avantgarde vehicles showing the most striking differences. One of the big challenges in the assembly of the new E-Class is that customers have numerous customization options. For the assembly, this means that throughout the life cycle there are no two completely identical vehicles. In addition to the new E-Class sedan, the T-Model wagon and the hybrid version and also the CLS and the CLS Shooting Brake run on the same line. At over 500 of some 1,500 job position framework conditions for installation of vehicle parts changed. In total 3,400 people over a period of ten months before 1 March 2013, the date of transition, were intensively prepared and trained.

when this e class facelift was revealed late last years it drew much criticism. But things seem to have changed since

I want to more of the luxury grille, just because the sport grille is new doesnt mean they should sway away from the tradition though i must say the more and more they show the sport model the more it grow on me

^ MB just updated COMAND Online. :) Android works fine, see: http://www.mercedes-benz-mobile.com

Mercedes-Benz presents new COMAND Online features at CeBIT show
In future, more comprehensive traffic information will be relayed to the vehicle more rapidly. The navigation system will be able to inform the Mercedes driver of traffic holdups at an early stage, so that he can quickly adapt his route planning according to the current traffic conditions.

In this way, Mercedes-Benz is taking the quality of traffic information and its use in the vehicle to a new level. This has been made possible thanks to cooperation between Daimler AG, TomTom and Deutsche Telekom.

Mercedes-Benz Live Traffic: more up-to-date information thanks to real-time traffic data

In future, the latest traffic information such as tailback reports, current traffic density, traffic holdups or travel warnings will be sent to the vehicle in real time by means of Mercedes-Benz Live Traffic. Deutsche Telekom is making a communication infrastructure available for this purpose which has been developed specifically for Mercedes-Benz. The company will install a communication module in its vehicles which provides constant connectivity with the Cloud. The Machine-to-Machine (M2M) SIM chip integrated into the communication module takes care of the mobile data transfer.

Real-time information on the current traffic situation is provided by TomTom with its HD Traffic service, which has emerged the winner in many comparative tests. Using this precise information, the COMAND navigation system is able to show the length and starting point of a tailback on the map to an accuracy of 100 metres, and to calculate improved dynamic route guidance with shorter travel times. The potential loss of time is automatically reflected in the arrival time displayed in real time by the COMAND Online navigation system. At once Mercedes-Benz Live Traffic functions as a real-time traffic reporter, making a direct contribution to superior data quality.

In parallel with the reception of up-to-date traffic information, the vehicle anonymises its own traffic data and sends it to the TomTom traffic data centre every two minutes. This centre combines information from all sources on the current traffic conditions and transmits the results. Mercedes-Benz will soon be offering this service in its new vehicle models, and plans to equip most models with Live Traffic by the end of this year. For the first time Mercedes-Benz drivers using COMAND Online will be able to benefit from the service free of charge for three years in Germany, the UK, Italy, France, Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Portugal, Denmark, Luxembourg and Austria.

the updated chassis is much better. The ride is firm in a characteristically German way, but impacts are muted to a dull thud. The steering walks a fine line between luxury car and sport sedan: slightly light and a little numb, but quick and responsive. It works well with the new suspension tuning, which allows the body to roll like you might expect in a big sedan, but do so in a smooth and controlled fashion. Once leaned, it takes a set and the car becomes neutral and confident.

the twin-turbo V-6 isn't as quick as the twin-turbo V-8, and that's to be expected, given that it's down 63 horsepower and 88 lb-ft. It is quicker, though, than its 329 horsepower and 354 lb-ft suggest. The little turbos spool quickly and produce a mostly flat power curve that seems to rise just slightly as you approach redline. Lag is negligible and torque delivery is nearly instant, but it comes on smoothly rather than punching you in the back like the V-8

In April Mercedes-Benz will be launching the new Drive Kit Plus for the iPhone in the US market. It was introduced in Europe late last year in the A-Class. This system allows you to connect your iPhone to your Mercedes-Benz for a lot more than just phone calls and music!

:)

Just saw the new E-class today. Actually, two of them.

The front actually looks really good and well resolved, but I can imagine the lights won't look as sharp when they're turned off, sadly. Rear looks much better now, the graphics really do look nice. Wish they would've made the lights slimmer though, IMO the 5er still looks better. Side profile looks better also. CLA on the other hand.. not so good.
