E-Class (W212/C207/A207) [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe (C207)

The Mercedes-Benz W212 is the fourth generation of the E-Class range. It is the successor to the W211 E-Class. Body styles: four-door sedan/saloon (W212) and five-door estate/wagon (S212). Coupé and convertible models of the W212 E-Class generation are W204 C-Class based and known as the C207 and A207, replacing the CLK-Class (C209 and A209) coupé and cabriolet. Production: March 2009 – January 2016 (sedan), December 2009 – May 2016 (station wagon).
The CLK has been taken of the daimler media site which only means the press release is imminent...

Two models will be available in the U.S. market: A V-6-powered E350 that produces 268 bhp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque...

This is alarming. At least use the '350 CGI engine with 292-horsepower! :t-banghea

Well in Europe you will get that engine, it is us here in the USA that won't get the DI engines.

Wayyyyyyyy better looking than an E92. No doubt. Only question is does it have the grunt to match the N54 motor?????

STUTTGART, Germany — Mercedes-Benz has revealed its new 2010 E-Class coupe in a series of official photographs. The images come weeks ahead of the new two-door's scheduled premiere at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show and a full six months before it is due to reach North American showrooms.

The upmarket Mercedes-Benz coupe arrives 12 years after the original W124-based model was replaced in the German carmaker's lineup by the highly successful CLK-Class coupe. Now the CLK is the victim of a new marketing strategy that aims to better align Mercedes-Benz's image-building coupe and cabriolet models with the automaker's volume-selling products.

2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe - 2009 Geneva Auto Show

Looks like this coupe is in fact based on the E underneath, and not the C as previously reported.

Last month, Mercedes-Benz unveiled a new E-Class that signaled a clear -- if somewhat reserved -- departure from past styling. Now, after months of rumors and spy pictures, the crew at Mercedes has dropped another E-Bomb on us: the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe.

Rather than starting with a concept, Mercedes is blasting straight into the market with the production E-Class coupe which is set make its debut alongside the redesigned E-Class sedan at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show next month. After its North American debut at the New York auto show in April, it will go on sale in the U.S. in June of this year.

Not a great deal of technical information on the new E-Class coupe or sedan has been made public yet, but one number Benz is making a big deal of when it comes to the coupe is 0.24, its coefficient of drag number that Stuttgart says makes it the most aerodynamically efficient series production vehicle in the world. There are significant styling differences inside and out between the two cars. This is most likely due to the fact that the coupe is not only a variation on the E-Class, but a replacement for the CLK-Class, which is being discontinued.

Starting in the front, the E-Class coupe will stand out with its own grille, featuring fewer, beefier horizontal bars. Gone is the tri-star Mercedes-Benz hood ornament, replaced with a massive tri-star logo in the center of the grille. Down below, the radiator opening in the lower fascia has been slightly revised and is narrower and helps the front end look a bit more aggressive.

Around the sides, two new sets of wheels are shown, including a five-spoke and a split six-spoke design. The most noticeable difference on the side, though, is the massive flanks. With the rear doors gone, Mercedes decided to beef up the rear quarters with big, thick wheel arches and a line that flows into the tips of the taillights - a nod to the automaker's legendary "Ponton" Coupe S 220 of 1955.

Out back, those taillights have been stretched and squished, wrapping further around the sides of the car for a sleeker look. A third brake light now resides in the top lip of the trunk, and the lower rear fascia has been slightly revised. The roofline has also smoothed out and now arches more gracefully with a gentler slope and rounder C-pillar.

Inside, Mercedes has made big changes to the cockpit. Much of the opulent styling seen thus far from the new E-Class sedan has been toned down for the coupe. There's less trim on the dash and door panels and it's used much more judiciously than in the sedan. In the center, the armrest has been restyled and pulled back to make room for the shifter, which has dropped back down from the column on the sedan to the center console on the coupe. Up above, the center vents appear to have been inverted. Also present inside are new front seats and a new, three-spoke steering wheel.

Amenities in the E-Class coupe will include leather seats, a panorama sunroof, Mercedes' COMAND infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, Variable-dampening Agility Control Suspension, the new Attention Assist system, LED taillights, and the new PRE-SAFE crash-anticipation safety system. Options will include Distronic PLUS adaptive cruise control, Adaptive Highbeam Assist and heated and cooled front seats.

Like the E-Class sedan, the Coupe will come in several performance flavors. The engines are essentially carryovers from the outgoing E-Class, with the E350 powered by the automaker's 3.5L 268-hp V-6 that makes 258 lb-ft of torque, while the E550 will boast the 5.5L V-8 with 382 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. Both engines will be backed up by Benz's seven-speed automatic transmission. Unclear at this point is whether the 50-state legal diesel option planned for the E-Class sedan will find its way into the coupe as well.

European customers will also have a choice of two new as yet unspecified four cylinder engines. No mention has been made of a high-performance E63 variant like the sedan will get, but it's a safe bet to assume the E Coupe will get an AMG massage as well. Convertible variants of both the E350 and E550 are expected to arrive in the U.S. in early 2010.

Nope, sorry to contradict you, but the CLK section is still there;they haven't removed it.

Mercedes-Benz Cars > Mercedes-Benz P. Cars > Coupes > CLK-Class

The path continues to be valid.

But you are right, the press release is imminent.:usa7uh:

How much bigger is this car compare to E92 and A5 ?
If its based on the new E-class then this is a large car and its going to be very expensive.

As far as I know..it's based on the current C-class. So, I'm guessing it's on par with the e92 and A5

According to the press release it's not much longer than the outgoing model.

The platform architecture is all-new, though, as the 2010 E-Class Coupe rides atop a modified version of the newly developed W212 platform, also used beneath the E-Class sedan. The coupe has a 108.6-inch wheelbase — an increase of 1.7 inches over the outgoing CLK. ~ Edmunds

It's based off the W212 underneath. This car does not share the same underpinnings of the W204.

Price will likely jump tens of thousands of dollars. I imagine it will be more expensive than the E sedan which at least in the US has never been the case with the CLK.

PS
I guess with this new name change MB will also be able to play the game BMW play with the 3er.. meaning all 3ers are added to 3er sales, not only the sedan and wagon..;)

I see no reason why it should not count with the other E-class when it is an E-class vehicle (even if it is small as a C-class). The 3-series car are of the same size so there is no game on BMW:s behalf - not like they are calling the E92 a 5-series coupé.

Regarding the looks, I think Mercedes, like with the other E-class vehicles, have made a move towards traditional elegance and away from affected sportiness. This suits the car better and keeps it pure in form.
