E-Class (W213/C238/A238) [Official] Mercedes-Benz E Class Convertible

The Mercedes-Benz W213 is the fifth generation of the E-Class range. Body styles: sedan/saloon (W213), wagon/estate (S213), long wheelbase (V213), coupé (C238), cabriolet (A238). Production: 2016–2023. Predecessor: W212 E-Class. Successor: W214 E-Class, C236/A236 CLE.
The engine/exhaust note on the C43 and E43 has to be one of the best of any current six cylinder engine, they sound terrific, better than that of the Audi S4 and even the M3/M4.

I was skeptical at first, but after I drove the C 43, GLC 43 and the GLE 43, I came around and think these cars can pass as AMG cars. Their performance isn't that far off from the previous gen AMG cars anyway.

So, whatever happened to the one man, one engine philosophy of AMG? What was wrong with the Sport badge or the AMG packet they used to call them? It's just me marketing BS if you ask me.

I have no issue with the 43 models. The level of performance they bring to the masses at the drastically lower price point compared to the full fat AMGs make them extremely attractive propositions.

So what the engines aren't hand built. Companies evolve and it's no different to what Audi is doing with the S models and BMW is doing with the ***M models. And at the price points they are at you're not being asked to pay for that privledge.

The use of the AMG brand on these models is marketing magic. Every sub 35 year old doctor, dentist, engineer and their dogs, have a '43'.

If every one is doing it, doesn't mean you should follow suit.
They're certainly asking for AMG money.

Plus, this makes non car people think it is an AMG.

Pricing here in Australia is at least 40k below the 63's.

I agree with you on that point, these cars should have been labeled AMG sport or something similar, I mean MB called them the "450" for one model year before the "AMG 43" re-branding. However driving a few of them, I realizes these cars offer more than just a more powerful engine, the whole driving experience is a big enough step up from the lesser cars to make them passable to wear the AMG badge.

They should just been AMG Sport. That was perfect, but it doesn't matter now. It seemingly hasn't done any harm to the AMG brand so lets get the new I6s on board and keep moving.

The damage is done if you ask me.
You know how we'd mock AMG posers. Now it comes straight from the factory. No need to buy any AMG badges.

But the C43 and E43 are pretty close to the genuine article and seems the C43 has better everyday usability than the C63.

They may pass with their engine sound, but not performance nor car presence, remember they are equipped with almost the same AMG kit (not 63 kit) as normal MB.

What you mentioned about being close to old AMG models is 100% right, but cars are evolving and currently a ''Sedan'' can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, that's much faster than a Lamborghini LP640.

Lastly, it is a smart marketing from MB and I can tell by the number of 43s I saw on streets, my only concern here is the name, they should not play with AMG badge.

The thing is, the full AMG cars have so much performance now, it is almost impossible to use even half of their performance on the road. The MB brand is no longer what it used to be, and the same goes with the AMG badge.

The AMG Line. :)

That retractable wind shield behind the backseats truly is a wonderful invention.

So logical I can't believe it hasn't been standard on every cabrio for 30 years....

Benz and Porsche are the only ones that offer it right?
