I'll wait until it's delivered to reveal the spec.
Ooooh, you knew what I was going to ask, didn't you? :D Look forward to the reveal.

My opinion of the C (and the S) has changed dramatically once I saw it in AMG kit. It's quite the looker in those multi-spoke AMG wheels.

If this were offered in the US, it would be my next car. Such a shame it isn't.

Looks absolutely disgusting imo.
Sure, but that's you with your own personal tastes.
Where I live, this car makes a crazy amount of sense. It's slinky enough for the good efficiency needed for business use, capacious enough for a road trip (ag - put a sleek Thule roofbox on that thing! ) and has perfect ground clearance for even our worst dirt roads. Mind, not off-road tracks! Add in the black plastic cladding which goes a long way to protecting against gravel rash and you've got a really useful and very pretty, imo, family car that's also far better to drive than a traditional SUV.
The irony is, SA is so SUV mad, so anti station wagon, that this model won't see the light of day here despite its painfully obvious benefits.

We here are both SUV and Wagon lovers, but this in-between mix is not going to sell at all. Just like those Audi allroad quattros in the past, they were virtually non existent as well.
Fully understand it's completely different in Africa and other parts of course.

Saloon.

I'll wait until it's delivered to reveal the spec.

Congrats, but why both a 3er and C class? It's like the same car.... Why didn't you go for something.....different?

Why is W206 C Class so expensive in SA?

Congrats, but why both a 3er and C class? It's like the same car.... Why didn't you go for something.....different?

It's a mixture of reasons really, but primarily because I'm a car nut and I like the new C-Class and I want to try it. I already have some diversity in my fleet, what with a diesel SUV, and a mid-engined sports car. The 3 Series is a 330e Touring, so it's not exactly the same as the C-Class, which will be a saloon, and a regular ICE/MHEV and not the PHEV.

And, it will be nice to have two big rivals to compare over the long term.

The decision making process started over two months ago when I started looking at what will replace my 318i (F30) (if anything). Originally I was looking at a new T-ROC as my wife would be the primary driver of it. For not much more you could get a new Tiguan, which would be more suitable for longer journeys. And then you look and realise for a bit more you could get a fully-loaded new A4 Avant S-Line, which then led me on to MB. Personally I'd rather spend a bit more money and get a car I really want than save a bit but end up with a car I don't get excited about.

Why is W206 C Class so expensive in SA?
Cars in general are expensive in SA. I haven't yet priced the full model range in SA yet as it's still not available online. I expect a C-Class to be 5 - 10% more expensive than an equivalently specced 3er. Anyhow, we're still waiting for the official release of the C-Class in SA and it's come too late for me.

Weak has nothing to do with it. It's just an extreme POS of an engine, like every other 4 cylinder in the world. They suck, and don't belong in such a car period.

If your comment is about the fuss, such as excess noise and vibration most every other banger makes when pushed very hard, then I can`t wholly disagree with you.
The M139 is definitely not like every other 4-cylinder. There are some key engineering features that help keep excessive noise and vibration in check.
It seems to be an excellent hi-speed player on the Autobahn runs. The new C63 is going to do extremely well with this engine I believe.

AMG will soon have a glut of overdue cars to release. If they can take the weight out of this car with 4-cylinder making the noise light, they may have a true drivers car here. They need to compensate with some true effort in weight savings to combat all this hybrid tech.

A 4-cylinder 63 AMG ?
Buwahahaha…this is getting more and more absurd

We enter soon in a new era...era of silent , no more loud engines for nothing.Silent, less moving parts=best for everyone, hope super bikes to have their sound muted soon enough. Who will still want V8, V12 sounds they can record it on their flash drive etc and take it and play it into their sound system into their cars and they can play it non-stop.

Inevitably...what will be in store for the aural aficionados:

BEVs will never replace ICE powered vehicles. The idiots with shit for brains from the EU are starting to realise that.

Their goal of a complete ban of of ICE powered vehicles by 2030 was postponed to 2035 and then they will postpone it to 2040, 2045, 2050...

I dig the All Terrain, its the best C-class variant in my opinion. It looks great with raised suspension, big wheels and black trim bits.

What's the ride quality like in all terrain models?

That is a good question especially with the huge wheels would expect a harder ride, but then the suspension has probably more travel than a standard C-class so it could be good. I don't think there have been any first drives yet so cant confirm on this
