That is pretty shocking results that the pedestrian safety systems don't work quick enough to brake the cars. It looks like their sensors and radars not quick enough to react and apply the brakes earlier to avoid hitting the dummies

Very impressive but did you get the power and torque values they got on their graph?

A C-Class based mule was caught in Stuttgart. What might it be? Is Daimler already testing the drivetrain for the rumored CLC four door coupe, or the GLC Coupe, perhaps? :)

Hi Wolf,
Any news about the diesel version of the W205 will be offered this Fall in the U.S ? I mean the 2016MY. Thanks.

Haven't heart anything yet, dtd. Seen a few reports with the new ML 250 BTs in the USA, which is the same engine, and they are reporting decent mileage so far. :)

Thank you sir. This is the first time I see the diesel price is actually lower than regular unleaded gas price in my area ( San Jose, CA ). So the diesel W205 comes to my mind. Do you think the C300d ( new labnel, I guess) price will be comparable to the C300 ?

Yes, expect them to be comparably priced, as in Europe. MBUSA pricing may differ due to different standard equipment, though. :)

O.K. Let's see what will happen for the MY 2016. Please keep me posted if you get some news. Thanks.

Defect Prompts Upholstery Replacement in Cars.com's 2015 C-Class

Soon after Cars.com's 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300 long-term test car joined our fleet in December 2014, we noticed a nasty discoloration of the MB-Tex imitation leather upholstery. An oily, white residue would come and go, leaving splotchy, ghostly patterns on the front and rear seats. At other times, the seating surfaces would appear greasy and wet even though the seats were dry to the touch.

Even stranger, the mystery patterns disappeared as soon as the interior warmed up and the phenomenon didn't happen at all on warm days. Our car was far from the only C-Class with this problem. Online Mercedes discussion forums documented the issue among owners of 2015 C-Class sedans, plus the automaker recognized the problem and issued a statement.

"Daimler AG became aware that, in a small number of individual cases, it is possible for temporary spots and/or shiny patches to form on the man-made leather surfaces of the 2015 C-Class in sub-freezing temperatures. No accidents or injuries have been reported, and we have no reason to believe that there are any hazards to customers," the automaker said.

Mercedes' supplier updated the upholstery to address the condition, and cars built after Jan. 5, 2015, have the fixed upholstery, according to a Mercedes service bulletin. The bulletin also attributes the staining to a production deviation that resulted in seat-sealing material sweating to the surface in temperatures below 32 degrees F and in certain high-humidity conditions.

For owners like us with cars made before Jan. 5, 2015, Mercedes offers a retrofit kit to re-skin the MB-Tex surfaces with the updated material. The kit includes replacement covers for the MB-Tex front and rear seats as well as head restraints and a few accent pieces. The upholstery is held in with an assortment of clips and rivets; technicians install it over the original seat and backrest padding.

A local Mercedes dealership inspected the car overnight to verify our concerns; we also showed the service consultant pictures of the gnarly seats. This particular dealership, however, was still a week away from receiving their first kits and ours would be the first covers they had the fortune of installing.

The dealership provided a 2015 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 loaner while the work was completed, which started on Monday; the car was ready for pickup Wednesday afternoon. Two days to complete the service was just the right amount, because that's about all the time I can spend in the rough-riding CLA250 before needing to realign my spine. The work was covered under warranty with no out-of-pocket cost to Cars.com.

With the exception of a thigh support flap that needed to be slid into place, the upholstery replacement is seamless. Unfortunately, the fix happened after freezing temperatures left the area so we haven't had a chance to test the new upholstery in chilly conditions. We'll be hanging onto the C-Class through the early part of next winter and will report if the sweating seats reappear.

MB has bee using MB Tex for years without anything like this, but when you change the supplier chain (i.e. a U.S. supplier) this is what happens.

M

MLs have had MBtex since 2005 without issue. GLs and R classes as well. I personally haven't seen this issue.

I just had a 2012 E wagon (German built) returned and the MB tex on driver's seat had nasty cracks. The driver was a 120 pound female, so driver abuse wasn't the issue. Very disappointed in the MB tex here lately.

That's right and those are built here too and I've never seen this before. I wonder did they change suppliers or the grade of the MB Tex just for the C-Class? Total failure on MB's part.

M

The MB-Tex fiasco was a major issue on all US built cars made before the January 5th date. It has been widely reported since early December and, I believe, may affect any MB-Tex car subjected to temperatures below freezing. I had the issue with my first C300, and had to have all the seat covers and headrests replaced. How such a serious, and obvious, defect made it through quality testing is hard to understand. Someone really screwed up on this one. I ordered my new C300 with leather ... I had my fill of MB-Tex.
