C-Class (W205) [Official] Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W205)

The Mercedes-Benz W205 is the fourth generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class which was produced by Daimler AG between 2014 and 2021. The W205 C-Class was preceded by the W204 C-Class and superseded by the W206 C-Class. The fourth-generation C-Class was available in sedan (W205), station wagon/estate (S205), coupe (C205), cabriolet (A205) and long-wheelbase sedan (V205) body styles.
Agreed. That's probably just a placeholder since MB may not yet have revealed the engine? :)

I thought that the C300 engine specs were solid from what I've been reading. Although, I have been seeing 175 kW and 370 Nm being thrown around and this is different to the 180 kW in that order guide. But you're right, Mercedes Benz has not officially launched the car yet, but at least we have a ballpark figure :)

@Wolfgang Will there be a C400 RWD in the future?

Latest EPC lists it, but MBUSA may not offer it initially? :)

Looks like the LWB C-Class in China may be offered with 367 hp according to MB Passion? Thus suspect an C 450 L may also be in the pipeline, similar to the new GL 450 4Matic in the USA? :)

it can only be the 3.0t found in the new SL400 and the E400L in china. No one will buy a non amg c class with a 5.5 v8 in there...

MB will either introduce 450 models across the range from C or E upwards or they are preparing for an increased output from BMW and Audi with their 3,0 turbo engines. May be just the last innovation before the new I6 engines arrive. Still does not make sense that they should have 300 models with 180 or 185 kw, then another engine, the 3,0, about 60 kw upwards in the 400 models and then another model with only 25 kw more powerful engine.

what also strikes me is that the 450 engine with 270 kw has a specific output of 90 kw per liter and since it is a non AMG engine would it be possible that an AMG engine would have the specific output smaller? I am driving at the new V8 TT in the new C63, if it just levels this specific output it should have 360kw but being an AMG it should have more. So I reckon the standard C63 will have at least 500PS.

Google translated that article. :)

In the fall the GL 450 4.6-liter V8 BiTurbo (M278 DE 46 LA red) in the US market will be replaced with a performance enhanced version of the popular 3.0-liter V6 BiTurbo (M276 DE 30 LA) with 367 hp. This 367 hp-variant could also mean the end for the ML 500. It is also certain that AMG had a hand in the game for this variant. At the Auto China Motor Show it was also revealed that the C-Class L with up to 367 hp would be offered. During the launching at end of 2014 the C 63 AMG with the brand new 4.0-liter M177/178 DE 40 LA in the S-variant is to deliver around 510 hp, and is offered only with rear-wheel drive, while in 2015 the C 450 AMG SPORT (also available with optional 4Matic) will be offered with up to 367 hp. This variant of the M276 DE 30 LA was derived from the 333 hp variant (C 400 4Matic). To what extent the equipment level differs from the C 63 AMG is not known.

Hi Wolfgang,
When will MB start the production of the W205 Bluetec (C250 CDI) at the Alabama plant? It seems to me they are not hurry to do it since the BMW 3er diesel does not sell in big volume. What do you think.

^ Agreed. The BlueTEC production start may have been delayed to late 2015? :)

Not your cup of Jagermeister? Later there will be other options for us: A C300 with steel springs holding up the corners instead of airbags arrives in spring of 2015; a 4.0-liter V8 C63 from AMG is also reportedly due in spring of 2015; in fall of 2015 look for a plug-in hybrid; in 2016 a C250 BlueTec. A convertible drives into showrooms in late 2016 or early 2017, and look for a C-class coupe shortly thereafter. http://www.autoweek.com/article/20140310/carreviews/140319999

The E 250 BlueTEC may also be worth to consider, since it gets decent mileage: http://www.roadandtrack.com/go/news/americas-most-fuel-efficient-new-car-is-not-a-toyota-prius
