C-Class (W205) [Official] Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W205)

The Mercedes-Benz W205 is the fourth generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class which was produced by Daimler AG between 2014 and 2021. The W205 C-Class was preceded by the W204 C-Class and superseded by the W206 C-Class. The fourth-generation C-Class was available in sedan (W205), station wagon/estate (S205), coupe (C205), cabriolet (A205) and long-wheelbase sedan (V205) body styles.
^ Agreed. The BlueTEC production start may have been delayed to late 2015? :)

Not your cup of Jagermeister? Later there will be other options for us: A C300 with steel springs holding up the corners instead of airbags arrives in spring of 2015; a 4.0-liter V8 C63 from AMG is also reportedly due in spring of 2015; in fall of 2015 look for a plug-in hybrid; in 2016 a C250 BlueTec. A convertible drives into showrooms in late 2016 or early 2017, and look for a C-class coupe shortly thereafter. http://www.autoweek.com/article/20140310/carreviews/140319999

The E 250 BlueTEC may also be worth to consider, since it gets decent mileage: http://www.roadandtrack.com/go/news/americas-most-fuel-efficient-new-car-is-not-a-toyota-prius
Wow, it's a long wait. I may end up with the regular C300 RWD and hopefully, it gives 30mpg combined. Thanks for your input as always.

Wolfgang, how come the C63 is taking so long to come to the market. Usually, the AMG variant is launched only a few months after the standard models are launched.

Wunderkind, several reasons. One may be related to the new taylor made production in four factories. At present only Bremen makes the W205, with East London, Beijing and Vance all following within a few months. See e.g.
Production of the C class began in Bremen, Germany, in February. Assembly in East London, South Africa, starts in May, followed by Vance, Alabama, in June and Beijing this summer.

Also the new engine, the M177/M178 4.0 liter BiTurbo, being readied for the C 63 AMG, may debut at the Mondial de l'Automobile 2014 in Paris in the fall in the AMG GT. Thus the C 63 AMG intro should follow shortly thereafter, likely at the Guangzhou and LA Autoshow in November/December, with production to follow soon thereafter. :)

Not sure if this info on the C250 has been posted before, but it turned up today on my local MB website.

Mercedes to bridge gap to AMG with C450 Sport

Want to get your hands on a new Mercedes-Benz C-Class, but find the existing range-topping C400 too pedestrian and can't stretch to (or wait for) the upcoming new C63 AMG? We've got some good news for you, friend.

The latest word from Stuttgart has it that Mercedes is planning to bridge the gap with a new C450 Sport. Though not a full-on AMG model, it is said to benefit from the input of the engineers in Affalterbach. Power is tipped to come from the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 as the C400, but instead of 329 horsepower, it would offer more like 367.

The model would likely be offered in either rear-drive or rear-biased 4Matic all-wheel drive, but the smart money is on MBUSA only offering the latter in North America. You could, of course, expect to pay a premium over the as-yet unconfirmed price of the C400 – a good three grand or more considering the difference between the outgoing C300 and C350.

Considering that you could probably get the same boost out of an aftermarket ECU remap, though, Benz will need to offer a little extra in the form of upgraded rolling stock, suspension and trim to set it apart. The AMG Line exterior trim package pictured above would probably be a good place to start...

Mercedes-Benz is planning to extend its new C-class line-up with a performance-orientated C450 AMG Sport.

Planned for introduction in 2015, the new model has been conceived to bridge the gap between the C400 and upcoming C63 AMG. Power hails from a tuned version of Mercedes' M276 petrol engine.

The twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 unit has been revised with added boost pressure and other detail changes, taking its output from a standard 333bhp to 367bhp, according to well placed Mercedes-Benz sources.

Although not an official AMG model, the C450 AMG Sport has been developed with input from Mercedes-Benz’s performance car division and, unlike the rear-wheel-drive C63 AMG, is set to be old in both rear-wheel-drive and optional 4Matic four-wheel-drive guises

C450 is great news and it will give MB the needed vehicle to address the 335i and S4.

Getting rid of the E500, in Australia there is now a $100K gap between the E400 and E63, so a E450 would be welcome as well.

I kind of saw this coming when I bought my E500. The end is nigh for the V8 engines in anything other than the S, SL Class, and AMG models.

The interesting thing is the just released SL400.....................why isn't it the SL450? Is the SL500 going to the way of the Dodo too?

I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

^ Agreed. Isn't the SL 400 supposed to replace the SL 350? :)

In correspondence with Autoblog, Mercedes spokesman Christian Bokich confirmed that the new SL400 will arrive Stateside this fall, positioned below the SL550 as an additional option in the lineup. In the meantime you can scope out the full details of the European-spec model in the press release below. http://www.autoblog.com/2014/04/07/mercedes-sl400-twin-turbo-v6-official/

^ Wolfgang,

Any word about the facelift of the SL? maybe the more powerful V6 engine and 9-speed transmission is earmarked for the facelift........
