Of course, it will be better. Not day and night , but still better, since it is RWD. I used to have 1995 Nissan Maxima , it is lightweight, 0 to 60 about under 8s I have been happy and drove it to 213K miles. Now I drive a Toyota Sienna minivan and dream for the day to be back with the sedan. I like to try the diesel C, but it is going to be a long wait. You may want a nice , good performance but also a good gas mileage car. I think the new C will have that. The only problem is the price.thats a good point but i was hoping at least for SOME better performance than my current nissan. wonder if i will get it?

The new C300 should give you 27mpg (city/highway combined) and 0 to 60 about 7s.

I'm sorry, it is just my estimate. We have to wait for MB official number. It should be in that 6s ballpark . My number is just an estimate in real world driving. You won't see much different in a half second difference. Like I said, it should be fast enough for you to merge into traffic on daily basis. The difference between FWD and RWD is the weight distribution. You will find out the C is more balance than the Maxima on the road. At this point we all have to wait for test drive then we compare notes. Other than that, I'm not better than you.my current nissan does 0-60 in about 6.5-6.6 seconds. so then its NOT better.
The facelifted W204 interior is a million miles better in quality than the E90 and even F30. I have a 9 year old E90 without IDrive and the negatives of its interior is mainly the the rubber feel thin layer of material they use on the door grab handles and back center airvent surrounds which has peeled off or has started peeling off in some places and I believe this problem was still not solved on the facelifted E90. It really brings the interior down as the bare white colour of the plastic is showing through, otherwise my car interior is still solid and looking good, the wood trim is still shiny without any cracks and the leather on the seats still is without any wornout patches on the side bolsters. The facelifted W204 has better quality switches and command controller all in metal as well as the steering wheel of the sports versions is better to hold and feel than E90 wheels of the M sport versions.
The C250 does 6.6sec to 62mph according to Mercedes claimed figures so the C300 should do about 5.9 to 6.0sec to the same sprint, so to 60mph it will be about 5.5 to 5.6sec.my current nissan does 0-60 in about 6.5-6.6 seconds. so then its NOT better.
My father owned prefacelift and after 6 years , he sold it and with many kilometers on the speedo. Never ever did we explore any flaws with the interior, It was exactly the same when he sold the car. How did that happen with such a bad quality interior as you express it?That's exactly what happened to my aunt's 3 series. That thin rubberized coating that felt so good when new peeled away all over the place. It exposed bare white plastic on the steering wheel. On the door panels it even became sticky to touch and no amount of cleaning could get rid of this stickiness. That's a pretty poor outcome for a vehilce that is only 1/2 way through its life cycle. It only had 80,000km on the clock. It did remain solid and rattle free though.
The way a BMW 3 series and Mercedes Benz C-Class drives is always special and in a league above other medium and compact saloons. The feel of their steering, brakes and other controls just feels more finely tuned, more precise and more comfortable as well as quieter. Also the fact they are rear wheel drive also makes them have a unique driving experience. That's why they are always the cars to beat in this class. It's about how the car drives anyways. All is premium in this class.

this pricing changes a lot for me. the c400 base price is too expensive, so now i have a choice to make. either keep the c400 but cancel most options, or downgrade to a c300 and keep the options. or if i really want to save, i can downgrade to the c300 and still cancel most options.
the thing i would like to know is what is the performance on the c300 like? 0-60 time? will it satisfy my sporty needs? im coming from a nissan with 255hp, so its kind of a bummer to "downgrade" on horsepower. im hoping its at least as fast as my nissan?

EDIT: apparantly Sweden have a better weather climate and more suited for BMW interiors than Australia and SA.
I sat in the W205 interior a few days ago and I was totally blown away by the quality and look of the interior, it is truly outstanding and makes the F30 interior look really cheap in comparison. The things that I liked a lot are the center console with piano black finish and the metal buttons for the AC/radio and electric windows, the door panel trim and speaker grills and the look and feel of the leather on the steering wheel and seats. The steering wheel looks and feels fantastic in the hands. The center iPad look screen to my eyes actually looks good with great graphics and the touch pad works okay but will take some time to get used to.Don't get me wrong though, the F30 interior looks like rubbish in comparison to the W205. The quality is overwhelming!

It's sad that MB is still behind on lighting technology when it's 2014. Everyone is already moving from xenon to LED's and MB is still stuck with halogens.
A $20k Toyota Corolla has xenon now and a $50k MB is rocking halogens.
