C-Class (W205) [Official] Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W205)

The Mercedes-Benz W205 is the fourth generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Body styles: W205 (sedan), S205 (wagon/estate), C205 (coupé), A205 (cabriolet), and V205 (long-wheelbase). Production: 2014–2021, 2016–2023 (coupé/cabriolet). Model years: 2015–2021, 2017–2023 (coupé/cabriolet). Predecessor: C-Class W204. Successor: C-Class W206.
Not the best solution, but Sunny the C-Class interior blows the 3er into the weeds overall.

Agree on the materials, no contest there (at least from the pics). But as far as design goes I prefer the 3er's more teutonic and sporty interior to the C's more luxurious looking one. Just my preference.

This screen will look much better than those in the A and CLA because the bezel sits flush with the glass.

The new C-Class interior really needs those "fancy" colour combinations to shine. White, brown or red leather or cloth combined with anything really do wonders. Plain black (or grey?) plastics with black leather/ cloth and that piano black trim, makes the interior look boring.

Same is true of the A4 and 3-series though.

The traditional grill is the way to go on the new C-class.

WTF were they thinking?

I agree. IMO, this is the only flaw in the C's interior. The thick bezels on those screens already look dated and their placement just seems like an after thought. Reminds me of those garmin/tomtom gps units which people stick on their dash.

As if anything else in the segment doesn't need "fancy" colour combos to shine. Even going up to the S-Class level of things, more delicate colours always look nicer. Though it must be said, the C certainly starts to falter when that big screen is paired with less desirable colour combos and materials. However, still a much better place to be than the van-like 3er interior IMO.

^Cheap, crude, tacky... the right question would be what is right with it?
I sat on the car at the autoshow. It looks like nothing suggesting cheap.

But put velour seats on an S Class and it will also look less than alluring.

I will say though that there is a 50% chance that the 3er will win my pocketbook this summer. As the newness hype dies down, the comparison between the two adjusts to where it has traditionally been.

Agreed about the rest of the segment. But, at least for me, the difference is that if the C interior is well spec'd-up, then the outcome is spectacular. For the A4 and 3er, the interior can only be very good. MB with the new C, really went one step ahead with the interior, but that "step ahead" is only acceptable with a 4 digit number at the bottom of the optional equipment list.

A few pictures showing the bezel sitting flush with the glass. :)

Design is truly a subjective thing. Case in point, I find the 3er interior rather drab and boring, whereas the W205 screams class. Here are a few IRL pics I took at NAIAS.

3-Series facelift will likely be the most extensive ever. That interior is just outdone. If Mercedes get the dynamics right, the 3er is done because this time the C will have a coupe, convertible, wagon and sedan just like the 3/4. Sales supremacy of the 3er will be in serious jeopardy for the first time ever.

Ok guys...enough about the 3 series already.

Hey Wolfgang you have answers for everything so can you tell me the actual screen resolution of the central display?

@Monster Not sure about the smaller screen, but the larger 8.4" COMAND screen is rated at 960 x 540 px.
That is pretty poor by today's consumer electronics standard. The driver and passengers are sitting further away than they are compare to them using a phone or a tablet but given the relentless development of display resolution of portable devices I thought car manufacturers would have at least catch up to today's level.

Agreed, but I don't think anyone in the auto industry is offering Retina or amoled hd displays yet.
Been wondering, why don't the manufactures buy existing displays from companies like Samsung, LG, Sharp, Sony?
