B-Class (W246) [Official] Mercedes-Benz B-Class (W246)

The W246 is the second generation Mercedes-Benz B-Class. It is the successor to the B-Class W245 and predecessor to the B-Class W247. Production: November 2011 – December 2018. Model years: 2012–2018.
I think Pfeiffer was still chief at this time? I wonder which is the first MB where Gordon would be the head honcho? Anyone know?

:icondrool wow

MB must put that interior in a-class and we'll have new best-selling model of it's range

I think the shape is too utalitarian for the A. It suits the B because its an MPV essentially. The A needs something sleeker inside, but with the same level of finish.

He probably was, yet on the other hand, he left in '08 right? Which means that this thing was probably still in development, or probably finishing development right around when he left. Remember, some article said that the A-Class was Wageners first design as Head, so maybe this is as well.

Personally, I think Pfeiffer was masterful. I feel like all these overly-ambitious design messes are credit to Wagener, as it's clear that's his direction and his personality fits that. I like his work of course, but I feel that he's the type that needs to be Managed, or else he'll go crazy with weird stuff like what we're seeing on current M-B's. Basically, it is my "hunch" that the funky elements we see on even Benzes developed under Pfeiffers watch, were highly influenced by Wagener, however, they were possibly able to be balanced.

The lines on the CLS pushed it for me, but I can somewhat accept them (though I don't like them). They needed to be done for individuality, however, IMO they sacrificed pure Design harmony for the sake of differentiation. The lines on the A and B are just detestable, not right on a Hyundai, much less a Benz.

I don't know KA. Wagoner has said Future MB's are going to be cleaner and more proportion driven, so it's really very difficult to tell who was behind these lines. They don't work here. But they do on the A concept and CLS.

What I think exactly :t-cheers:

Yeah, we'll see.

Wagener keeps saying "cleaner", but every new model that comes out is looking more and more messy. M-B's have always had great proportions, so I expect that to keep evolving of course.

Again, I don't think we've seen any model where Wagener has been head to judge if this 'clean' future is just hot air. I think it may actually be the next C-class that is the first all Wagener model. Wolfgang should know.

Mercedes has not revealed who designed the new B. In the meantime, we have concept A to go with, which shares some of the features:

For such a tall and short vehicle the lines are needed to give an impresion of movement and flow. And expect this trent in all manufacturers.

Shame on you for not knowing Wolf! :p

Meanwhile do you know which is the first MB where Wagener was design chief?

Let's see if we can lure HusseinDesign into this Thread, he may have some of this info as well. :D

I see a lot of hate for teh B class and yes i know we are all enthuiasts so this car does not appeal to 99 percent of us but lets take a step back and think for which market this car has been made..Its for a smallish family or a couple with maybe two youngsters or even three who need a car for daily use as well as long distances..It will be economical it is spacious to carry the small or young family and has room for baggage and whatever else is need also the moms who needs to do shoping will love this car it has height and is roomy..yes it is no sports car or no car thats going to give us passion to drive but its not made for that..This car is perfect for its category..the interior is just steps ahead off the previous model infact i would say the interior is far ahead off what maybe this level car deserves..As for exterior i dont see teh fuss i think it looks way more dynamic then the previous one the rear is awesome the front looks very good and yes most hate the lines on the side but ill wait till i see it in real because the lines are always deceptive on pics and when you see in real...My view is this car is going to sell very well if they fix the ride which i am shure they have so overall i can see this is going to gain a lot ioff New clients to Mercedes Group..

I think Mercedes have done an excellent job on the interior, it's easily as good and anything Audi has done, my big question is will the rear bench be wide enough to fit three carseats across it?

The exterior look ok, not amazing but good enough.

I like the design and all, but I'm a bit confused. Where does this fit in? The A-class is a 1er/A3 fighter and C-class is 3er/A4 fighter. WTH does this compete with? And how much physically different (size wise) is it from A?
