A-Class (W176) [Official] Mercedes-Benz A-Class (W176)

The W176 model was introduced at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show officially as a subcompact executive / C-segment model for the first time after being a supermini / B-segment for fifteen years.
Hey Frostee,

Still having trouble deciding on Euro plates ($700) or standard plates ($0 extra) was that pic of your car from the front with standard plates or slimline plates? It appears that the Euro plates cover that front plastic plate mount just perfectly. Still trying to figure out spend the money or not.

That's quite a premium for the Euro plates in Vic. For me (NSW), the difference between the slimline and Euro was only $300. I didn't bother personalising the content, was just after the Euro look with the full plates.

well done ! pretty nice to have included in the deal. do be sure to post a pic. :)

Will definitely post a pic ...just gotta get the car 1st :banghead: the car should have been in Melbourne by now but the Ship decided to spend TWO extra days in Fremantle :depressed:  ...it left Freo ahead of the scheduled time.... sailed down the west coast for the best part of a day .... and then turned around and went back !! :spitoutdummy: then stayed there for 2 further days !
I recon when the ships get to Aussie waters they probably get taken over by Australia Post !! ..it always happens to me, the last thing I ordered overseas took 24 Hours to get from China to Australia by courier ..the delivery to the door part was then taken over by Aus Post ..they took 5 further days to get it from Sydney to Adelaide !!

haha...i know that feel...the worst part is when it reaches the dock..waiting for compliance and then to the holding yard before going to the dealer.

That sucks, you got me scared now! LOL, this has been happening to me since my ship arrived in Belgium. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it goes nice and smooth the rest of the way. My dealer showed me on his latest sheet that they are expecting car to be there on the 20th of September but it doesn't arrive in Melbourne until the 11th so I'm not holding my breath.

Here they're still $495 for euro if you just take what they give you

Ok. I found another guide on importing the POIs. Was also in German. This seems to be more straightforward. I removed the unnecessary details.

Just tried it this morning and it works fairly well. Noticed 1 speed camera that wasn't covered, but no biggie as you can add it yourself.

I've got mine setup for audio and visual warning - a blinking yellow icon plus the normal 'seat belt dong' sound.
Importing was an absolute breeze and took literally no more than 10 seconds.

Thank you linkumpoot for taking the time to simplify the process for us all (y)

No worries..just curious. What sd card are you using? I read that only certain class/brand/size works properly.

Hi there, just wanted to clarify:
1. Does the visual/audio alert also occur when not on Navi screen? Eg if you're on the Audio screen?
2. Where did you get the POI file from? I've found a site called www.poidb.com which appears to have a fairly up to date list for fixed speed, red light and safety cameras. Only problem is the registration process doesn't appear to work as I haven't received an "activate account" email yet.

Thanks again, and good to hear it works for you!

Make sure activation email didn't end up in your junk folder

S
I did get a quote for them and was informed it was $89 each, however in the MB accessories book that I was given when I picked the car up, it states that it comes in a set of 4. Will need to check the part number to confirm, but that'll need to wait until the weekend.

I'm a bit unconvinced about them though. Although I admit the plastic is not the best, but at least it blends in with the surround. With the metal ones, there's a contrast.
Seriously, the standard door pins are rubbish. Look closely they are cheap and nasty.

I'm not sure that blending is always good either. The rest of the interior doors rely on the use of chrome accent, and in my opinion the chrome look of the pint actually balances out the overall look of the door.

The eBay sourced pins are top notch machined aluminum. Anyone who buy them will not be disappointed.

Website is active but the people managing it seems to have disappeared. No activity for the last 6 months or so. Best to try elsewhere. Poiplaza is where I usually get mine. I found a new site recommended by some friends in Germany scdb.info

It's a paid subscription thing about 9.95€. I haven't looked at it personally. You could give it a try and see how it goes. I've checked the list of cams available and it seems very much up to date. At least where I live. Let us know how it goes if you try it.

I've been watching a TV series from Korea recently and the main actors are all driving Mercedes (No A Class unfortunately) B Class and there is also a C Class it has increased my desire for the car to come. But for some reason the star on the front is covered over on the cars.

I understand it is also Patrick's - pretty much a monopoly from my understanding

Well the Car Care Products are starting to arrive (Don't know why they've seperated my order.) I got the lambswool mit today. Caught the postman stuffing it in my mailbox.

Usually that's because of concerns around sponsorship or use of logos when not endorsed by the trademark owner.

Here's a thread that discussed it

For the life of me I can't get the internet connectivity going. I've tried 3 phones now and each time I get "Data connection failed". Can someone please give me some pointers, maybe I'm just doing something basic wrong.

If using an iPhone you need to ensure you have personal hotspot and Bluetooth turned on. When I was first trying to connect it failed so when connecting again I pushed the Comand dial back and forth a couple of times when it was trying to connect and it connected. I don't know why that seemed to help it but it just seem to get stuck and not connect. Once the phone is paired you just leave personal hotspot on all the time and then toggle Bluetooth on when you get into the car and it connects almost immediately.
