A-Class (W176) [Official] Mercedes-Benz A-Class (W176)

The W176 model was introduced at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show officially as a subcompact executive / C-segment model for the first time after being a supermini / B-segment for fifteen years.
Awesome shots Tunes, really, really love the b&w treatment (y)

I've noticed very much that the go fast pedal position and response is different on the a250. Unlike lots of cars these days that take off really fast with light application of the pedal, the 250 is the opposite. Its very docile, until I push the pedal down to about 70% -then hang on -it all happens after that 70-80 % throttle openning.

BTW, anyone used launch control yet?

I see you got Michellins on yours... Curious to see if I get them or Continentals.
Noticed that too, wish I had have got the Michellins. I'm finding the conti's very sensititve to different road surfaces that can result in vibration transmissions through the car.

In Sport mode, the soundtrack of this superb 2L comes alive! It cracks when up-shifting while the car is still under load without redlining (eg. 4000rpm).
Me too Tunes, I just can't get enough of that "boooff" on the upshift :joyful:

Is there launch control on the A250? I thought that was only on the A45?

Anyone found any info on MY14 build and if the side mirrors are coloured or black? I can't find anything...

In the memo to Dealers that I saw re MY14/804 I didn't see anything that specified any change to mirrors.

According to the current spec on the MB website it says that on the A250 Exterior Mirrors in Black are standard. I assume that this is for MY14 as other changes such as the grille have been reflected in it.

For A180 and A200 I understand that body colour is standard. Black mirrors are specified when you order the AMG Line (SP1) - previously known as AMG Sports pack

Thanks mate; I prefer the black ones :)

I hope to see many more photos in the coming months!

Love the pictures TuNeS, very artistic. Love to see the shots.

Now my only real gripe with A250 Sport........fuel economy. It is far from the claimed 6.6L. I know it will never be the figure that is stated in the specs, but the VAG 2L in my Skoda vRS wasn't that far away from what they claimed. When you drive like a grandpa being ultra smooth away from the lights, coasting as much as possible, using cruise control and spending most of the time on the highway - I can get high 7L per 100km. However in real world driving in traffic around inner north side Brisbane, it is more like 11-13L depending on the day. The second you hit the loud pedal, this things drinks the fuel. When you add up the extra cost, it accounts to bugger all so it isn't a big deal.........but I think the process of recording these figures needs to be refined as it's misleading. They must have found a big hill with a tailwind when it came time to recording the fuel economy for the brochures.

I have seen some posts on aclassclub.co.uk that seem to indicate others are getting close to if not a little better than the 6.6l/100km on trips. I asked one what sort of driving and they told me freeway at about 60-70mph. So I'm guessing some are getting close to it. May I ask how you are gauging your fuel economy, are you taking the trip computers reading only or are you refuelling and then working it out from how many km's you've done and how much petrol you've used? I'm guessing the trip computer should be fairly accurate, but if it is out only a slight amount I guess that over a trip it would be a noticable difference. While my Avalon has a trip computer I've never trusted it's figure and just divide my km by 100 then divide the litres of fuel used by the result of that and there I have l/100km.

Yes you can. Figured it out today and I have disabled it :) Also, the DRLs are disabled by default. I only figured this out when I saw the refection of my car in a window at the shops. Easily fixed in the setup menu though.

Sorry for my ignorance but what are the DRLs?

I can't see it in the manual but I'm sure I read on an Australian review somewhere that they had tried to get good 0-100 times but wasn't quite what was advertised then they realised there was launch control.

Just found it, here is the article http://www.motoring.com.au/reviews/2012/prestige-and-luxury/mercedes-benz/a-class/mercedes-benz-a-250-sport-2013-quick-spin-31167

it talks about quasi launch control

.......
We found out later that there is a quasi launch control function within the 7G-DCT twin-clutch trannie's repertoire. Press the brake, press the throttle sharply and immediately side-step the brake and you'll be rewarded with a 2500-3000rpm launch.

I too prefer the black.

My car is due in Perth on Sun (28 July) and then arrives Melbourne on 2nd Aug. I'm assuming it will take a couple of weeks for it to be off the wharf and ready for delivery so am hoping for mid August to get it.

Hi I have been watching with interest for a while but now my car is here I have joined. Car arrived in Brisbane on the Grand Pioneer on the 16th July and is ready to pick up this Friday the 26th. It's an A250 with exclusive pack. I can't wait it has been a while since my last warm hatch (corolla sportivo 141kw). I won't be sad to see the slug Honda Accord Euro go - no power and bad fuel economy around town 11 - 12 litres per 100k. Although an excellent highway car. Mine is Jupiter Red. There was a Frostee around on the Sportivo forums back when they were new I don't suppose it's the same Frostee here ? Keep up the good work on the questions and answers for the car. Bring on Friday.

Great news re getting your car this week. Be sure to drop is a note with your impressions.

No, I'm not the same Frostee you mentioned. I'm no expert but enjoy hunting down info if I can find it. In the process you learn a lot. I think that online manual is a great resource!

Enjoy the new car! I've got my fingers crossed that I will be looking at 10 days or less like you between ship arrival and delivery.
