A-Class (W176) [Official] Mercedes-Benz A-Class (W176)

The W176 model was introduced at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show officially as a subcompact executive / C-segment model for the first time after being a supermini / B-segment for fifteen years.
I have full size Euro plates which are also mounted on Lakin plate brackets and covers - no issues with the front sensors.

I've gone for the slimline Euro plates here in Vic, still waiting for delivery of car though. It was offloaded on Dec 23rd so hopefully get it before end of next week

Did you change the file to a differen format?? It should be in gpx format already. Did you download the original file? Or have you changed timing. If you changed timing make sure it's still in gpx file. It takes a few mins to import.
I've worked it out: when I download the file on a Mac it saves it as .GPX.XML (being a XML document) but when I download it on a PC it saves it as a .GPX. All loaded and working now. Thanks for your help.

Just picked up my A250 in mountain grey. First impressions, all I can say is awesome. I came from a C200 and this is a completely different car. Unless you drive it to the extreme you will not know its a front wheel drive car. And if anyone is worried about the 'firm ride' then let me assure you that it is far from that. 7 months wait. So far so good.

Just a couple of questions that some one might be able to answer for me- has anyone noticed that their over head console switches (sunroof etc) sometimes lose their illumination at night? I've noticed twice now that they turn off, but don't know if they're supposed to after a time or not? And does anyone if you can dim the Command screen? Driving at night with Audio screen on is way too bright for me - I normally switch over to the nav screen, but that's not always convenient. I tried using the dimmer toggle but that just dims the instruments, switches and interior lights, not the screen.

Gun16, got any dates in mind for a Bris meet? I'm good any time over the next few weeks except for the 16th - 19 Jan (riding down to the Troy Bayliss Classic at Taree  )

Thats good to hear mate - I have read a number of articles where the journos have bagged the A-class ride especially over bumpy, country roads. It didn't worry me to much to honest, as mine will (like its owner) be a pampered city dweller. But its nice to hear reassurance from a "real person".

Congrats on your purchase - looking fwd to hearing more of your thoughts as your love affair blossoms :)

I have been driving the car in sports mode most of the time now but beware fuel consumption is quite high. The offset is you get the hear the crackle and pop on the downshift and the duff sound on the upshift. The sound of the engine has taken precedence over the sound system for now. Haven't pushed it to the limits until I do around 1500km and the engine is run in.

No rego stickers needed from Jan 2014. Just saw that on Vic road website. That's so good. Make the windscreen look so much cleaner.

Not sure about the lights, but for the command screen go to the system menu on the common screen itself. The setting is in there to dim the screen.

I think @gun16 was keen on a meet next weekend, but I'm most probably going to be busy then. That said with you being away the weekend after, maybe you guys should just go ahead next weekend and I'll try to make it if I can.

Thanks MrM. I have the screen set to Auto, but the display doesn't actually dim, just reverses, and still too bright for me. Pity it doesn't dim with the rest.

I can wait till you're good to come along for the Bris meet, no hurry (I'm looking forward to getting hold of your keys while you're distracted  and taking the 45 for a strap  ).

In the interests of continual improvement (MB agenda?), after 6 months of ownership, I thought I'd put down a list of suggestions - not complaints or a whinge, just suggestions for improvement. So here's my list, and feel free to add to it, I'd be interested in others' thoughts.

1- dimable Command screen (as above). For me this is actually a safety concern as it really distracts me when driving at night for some reason.
2- the positioning of the warning on the Command screen when reversing. It blocks the vision right where you want it. All that has to be done is position it at the bottom of the screen, or get rid of it altogether after a second or so.
3- the dreaded key start. I am going to whinge about this one. Its stupid. Make it keyless start, or put it in a more easily accessible place, or at least make it like the VW style where just insert it and push, no having to turn the key. I'm tired of fumbling around with this silly and unnecessary design.
4- while I've sort of got used to the gear shift being where the wipers etc should be, I much prefer it back in the centre console (like the A45)
5-a bigger sub for the HK system
6- remote control of the windows from the key fob as standard, and one that works from a reasonable distance(take another tip from VW boys)
7- allow Stop Start to default to off
8- have a forth Mode: Eco, Sport, Manual and Normal (where Normal is just that, not laboring around at 1100rpm all time, but rather around 2000 would be nice.

That's about it. Not much really, just a few tweaks would make it damn near perfect (although another 30-40 kw for the 250 would be very nice :), and I'm sure could be done with a simple re-map)

Agree on all fronts.
I'm hoping some of the mapping guys can remap that transmission to make 'normal' to new 'eco'.
After 9K on the clock the engine has really started to loosen. The sound @ 4,500RPM is really quite nice for an engine of this size. The mild theatrics of the exhaust is lovely, those AMG guys really know what they're doing.

to those that have got theirs without the command pack, was there a port behind the glove box for the povo pack GPS?

update on mine is still 28th but that is only for it to arrive in Australia, then he tell me i have to wait another 8-14 days... ugh

Anyone have seat belt rattle problem? It started today, really annoying me. Will bring it back to fix. Keypad /air con area, now seatbelt.

All these rattles are pretty unacceptable and a bit worrying really. I can't stand rattles and squeaks as they totally destroy the perception of quality and durability.

Hi @clip, I will send out an SMS today.

Apologies for not being on the past week :)

I found the ride settled after 300 kms of driving, I would not consider it harsh at all. It is incredibly neutral through roundabouts and stays very flat. It doesn't under steer near to the degree of any other FWD car I have driven.

I am in love!
