GT [Official] Mercedes-AMG GT

The Mercedes-AMG GT is a series of 2-door sports cars produced by Mercedes-AMG. While not directly replacing the SLS AMG (competing in a different segment), it is the second sports car developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG.
Its a beast that I really love a lot, can't wait to see the car in the flesh and also what performance figures it will have.

LOL 585PS is Mercedes saying to Porsche, we have 5PS more than the 911 Turbo S, so stick it in your cigar and smoke it!

Going to be one hell of a storm, this car..pretty peculiar that they are using the new 'inverted' grill, when the normal GT has the standard grill.

Looks like the air flow fins on the wings seen on the prototypes are omitted from the production car

At home on the road and on the racetrack - The Mercedes-AMG GT R

Never before has Mercedes-AMG equipped a standard production vehicle with such a racing technology as the all new AMG GT R. The front mid V8 biturbo engine with transaxle transmission, producing 430 kW / 585 PS, a substantial modified undercarriage, new aerodynamic and the intelligent light weight construction are the key elements of an ultimate driving experience. On June 24th, the new sports car with a pure race DNA will be presented in Brooklands, UK.

An acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 318 km/h in combination with extraordinary driving dynamics promise extreme fast laps on the racetrack. The exclusive color "AMG green hell magno” is an optical reference to the “Green Hell” the nickname of the legendary north loop of Germany’s Nürburgring and points to a direct lineage to the racetrack.

Mercedes-AMG continues to grow and extends its product portfolio with the new AMG GT R at the upper end.

3.6 seconds 0-100 is around a tenth faster than an M4 GTS...

Exited to hear about the laptimes now. Should be soon I guess..

The 0-100 time of 3.6sec is a little disappointing considering a GT S version (with 55kw less power) does 3.8sec claimed (but has been timed by some magazines at 3.6sec to fastest 3.3sec). Maybe this figure will be conservative and we could expect about 3.3sec.

Also 318km/h is really quick but slower than 328km/h for McLaren 570S and 330km/h for Porsche 911 Turbo S.

But maybe the cars focus is more on track and downforce than outright speed.

Cant wait till they release the time for the N-Ring, that will be very interesting.

Well its a rear wheel drive only, so the 0-100 times cannot be compared to 911 Turbo, etc. I expect 100-200 times between 7-7.5s, that is the time to compare this car to its rivals.
