A-Class (W177) [Official] Mercedes-AMG A45 S And CLA 45 S

The W177 hatchback was launched in 2018 as the successor to the W176 Mercedes-Benz A-Class. It is available as a 5-door hatchback (W177 model code), 4-door sedan (V177), and a long-wheelbase sedan exclusive to China (Z177).
On par with BMW, and Audi has taken a step back to cut...
To be honest, I am quite disappointed in the design of the interior of the new A3. It looks far more plasticky and cheaper looking than the previous model interior. The center console in particular as well as the passenger side section of the dash appears to have alot of hard touch plastics of different shapes intersecting together. I wouldnt be surprised if that flat section joining the vents and glovebox on the passenger side could be hollow to the touch and be a point of causing rattles or creaks on bumpy roads.

The center console of the previous model had a nice leather/faux leather padding on the knee side. Also it has a nicer metal finished gear lever, while the new model had increased use of black plastics and shiny black/grey gearknob. That open cup holder in front of the armrest also looks pretty cheap to be honest. The 1 series and A-class have a better solution to place the cupholders ahead of the gearlever where its not in the way of elbows knocking drinks over.

Even the A-class has a nice sliding cover for the cup holders so they can be out of sight

Although I (obviously) am quite the fan of Audi products, I must say that I perceive M-B as having the most attractive current offerings in this particular segment. An elegantly spec'd CLA or A-Class sedan are delightful to behold. Actually, the hatchback is bloody handsome as well. A great job done, inside and outside.

I fully agree. Bar the Q8, I find myslef trying very hard to like Audi interiors these days. They are just bizarrely styled in many respects. Also Audi has taken a notable step backwards in terms of interior material quality. I was in a new A6 this weekend and I was shocked at some of the areas I found hard hollow plastics, such as the upper part of the dash just below the instrument cluster, where the ignition switch traditionally would have been.

I'm not sure about the optimal placement of cupholders though. Porsche gets away with the same open cupholders Audi is using with nary a complaint. I also find that the holders behind the transmission actually hinder access to mobile phones as MB and BMW place their wireless charging trays there.

I don't mind the A3s' interior at all. But in more pedestrian configurations, the A3 sedans' exterior visual is "questionable" at best. The choice of color and rims make or break the A3. The M-B A-Class sedan and hatchback, on the other hand, look quite acceptable even in base specificiation. The CLA needs the make-up though...

Where is this? It's a hell of a road but man any oncoming traffic would have caused everyone to shite their pants lol.

You realize that the A6/7/8, Q7/8 are pretty much the...

They are not. Not to my eyes at least. Maybe your idea and my idea of 'Pretty much the same' are different.

They are cut from the same cloth without a doubt, but there are elements of the A6's interior that really don't appeal to me, such as the the shape of the vents and the the protruding central dash element that houses the main control unit. I find the Q8 is far more cleanly executed. (Side note, I had an SQ8 for 3 hours this weekend. Superb vehicle in so many respects)

I see the same thing with the A3 interior and the Q3 interior. Again cut from the same cloth, albeit with more differentiation than the A6 and Q8, but the Q3 interior looks better to my eyes because of a few aspects that may seem minor to most:

Sorry all, this post is way off topic in this thread, but I was responding to a remark that I believe warranted my response.

Crazy people :nailbiting:

Wow they very dangerous drivers, especially driving through small towns on the sides of the road if someone had to pull into the road or some animals cross the road, they both would be f&cked!!!

Looking at the cars themselves, the A45S looked to be accelerating faster out of the corners and extending a lead on the Tesla on the straights. Its cornering limits seem higher than the Model 3, which looked like it was understeering on some of the tight bends, while the A45 would have neutral behavior shifting to oversteer on exit and would then bolt away from the Model 3. The Model 3 braking however seemed very good indeed.

That driver was mighty impressive, dispatching a few nice fast Porsches along the way. The A45 S looks wonderfully planted and with really good grip and balance, although a few corners he was fighting with some opposite lock as the tail breaks out.

Don't understand why are they (journalists) comparing A/CLA family to BMW 2 F22
