A-Class (W177) [Official] Mercedes-AMG A45 S And CLA 45 S

The W177 hatchback was launched in 2018 as the successor to the W176 Mercedes-Benz A-Class. It is available as a 5-door hatchback (W177 model code), 4-door sedan (V177), and a long-wheelbase sedan exclusive to China (Z177).

Looks gorgeous.

@Merc1 you are certainly correct, it looks more expensive than it is. I think the A-Sedan is needed in markets where a bit more headroom and legroom is needed and there is room for a notable price difference between the 2 products. The USA is not that market, but China is. I believe there is also enough breathing room between the two in the Australian market. In fact the A-sedan is not cannibalizing CLA sales, it is eating A-class hatch sales here.

Aye that’s a

Aye that’s about all !! The sound is terribly quiet was thinking about busting out the gpf and the cat in the standard exhaust
That’s bound to make a bit more grunt
Not yet. Only for A35

I drove an A220 and it was the most unengaging car I drove. Felt like a cheap Japanese car rather than something from a premium manufacturer. I hope the AMGs feel premium

So I was checking another thread where a Porsche executive said that in order to meet the new Euro 7 emission standards, engines will have to be at least 20% bigger because os filhos de putas de Bruxelas European Union want to impose a horsepower per litre limit.

So, 416 hp out of a 2.4 engine would be 173 hp per litre, however, if I know those putos the EU, they will likely impose a 150 hp per litre or even less. Which means that another A45 AMG will likely be nonviable.

There probably won't be another petrol engine A45 after this one. The worlds changed, Mercedes recently announced the next C would only use 4 cylinder engines, including the AMG models.

I dont believe this is true as all Europe is thinking about now is reducing emissions and not concerned about engine displacement or power/ltr. Engine size is not an issue, the main issue to reduce emissions. If they have a V8 but they have alternative methods to help it reduce emissions to acceptable levels then this can be produced but a 4-cylinder engine is the cheaper option at the moment for many car manufacturers to reduce emissions.

The most common engine type in the world is the inline 4cylinder engine, for economies of scale it makes sense for Mercedes to make one 4 cylinder engine line standard for the A-class and C-class, its most popular models. Last year half of Mercedes sales came from the small cars (over 600K sales) and the C-class (over 400k sales), so having a 4cylinder is cheaper to make for both Mercedes and AMG. Adding electrification will also become more common and cheaper in future as more and more high sale manufacturers produce them.

BMW and Audi will probably follow in the same direction for the next S/RS and M models. The days are getting numbered for 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder engines, its the sad truth.

Went to our local dealership today and I saw this duo.

The CLA looks so good and upscale from its class design wise, its so close to the CLS from outside.

Its the first time for me that I actually like a FWD based Mercedes.

I must say that the traditional notchbacked sedan is my favorite A-Class.

A nice BMW E46-sized package.

This car looks so good on the road. They really got it right...

But the quality is just fine for its class. They are all about even keel with pros and cons. so I doubt MB is going to lavish more on the interior, with so much being spent on the electronics.
