P1 [Official] McLaren P1 Supercar


The McLaren P1 (codenamed P12) is a flagship sports car produced by McLaren Automotive. It is the second installment in McLaren's Ultimate Series after the McLaren F1. Considered to be the spiritual successor to the F1, the P1 was one of the first high performance sports cars to be introduced incorporating hybrid technology; the Porsche 918 Spyder having begun taking orders prior to the P1 and the LaFerrari introduced alongside it.
I just read that Mclaren sold 12 cars in Sweden this year and 4 of them are P1's. Now I just hope I have the chance to see one of them.

McLaren has taken the wraps off the P1 GTRdesign concept which they claim it will be the "best driver's car in the world on track."

Shown as a design concept, the P1 GTR is being exhibited at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California and comes with a number of modifications over the road-going P1. First and foremost, McLaren's engineers have tweaked the V8 3.8-liter twin-turbo mid-mounted engine and the electric motor and managed to bump output of the hybrid system from 916 PS (674 kW) to 1,000 PS (736 kW).

Aside from being more powerful, the track-only P1 GTR is also more aerodynamically efficient thanks a +80mm increased front track as well as a GT-style front splitter. It also comes with different radiator ducts, roof scoop, a lowered race-spec fixed ride height while behind the front wheel arches there's an extra aerodynamic blade flowing along the bottom edges of the doors into the carbon fiber bodywork to an extra side panel at the rear which transfers more air in the radiator and increases rear floor aerodynamic efficiency.

The back of the car hosts a fixed twin-element wing sitting on carbon fiber pylons and boasting a hydraulically-operated Drag Reduction System (DRS). Underneath the wing is the centrally-positioned exhaust system made from inconel and titanium alloy and featuring a straight cut twin pipe configuration.

The McLaren P1 GTR rides on motorsport-spec 19-inch alloy wheels which are 10.5-inch wide at the front and 13-inch at the back and benefit from quick-release center locking nuts. There's also an onboard air jacking system derived from the 650S GT3 for easier and quicker tire changes.

Built and maintained by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), the P1 GTR will enter production next year after the last P1 will be assembled. It will be offered exclusively to P1 owners who will also benefit from a program including specialist driver training as well as access to the company's racing simulator and driving events.

McLaren hasn't specified how many units will be built but they did say each will cost 1.98M GBP.

That P1 driver's lines were appalling! Jeez, the ultimate circuit car (so it was claimed) in your hands and those are your lines? You can have all the money in the world and still corner like kak.

The P1 had veryworn tires and could only go full out on the straights, in the corners he drove like that to let other cars pass if possible. Besides he only drove because he had a passenger with him that really wanted a drive with him. The BAC Mono had fresh slicks (!!!!!!!!!) and its driver was a pro.
Also the driver of the P1 was a better then average one (not pro) and both names of the drivers are easy to be found if you want to.

Never ever react like this when you dont know all the facts...
 
^The P1's line was indeed absurd. I don't know why having a passenger or worn tires means you have to take absurd lines. He also wasn't letting the mono pass either, by tracking out and then flooring it multiple times. Maybe he is an awesome driver, but that lap definitely wasn't.

I've worked as an advanced driving instructor for over 10 years now. But that counts for nothing. Anyone can see that the P1 driver was turning in waaay too early and worn tyres are no excuse if you're prepared to go tearing down the straights at full tilt, stand on the anchors only to turn in too early.

True Sunny, as Always. I dont say he is driving great, I am just saying that sometimes people need to know the whole storry before... You know what I mean ;)

Nope, but so werent you ;) The difference is I know what happened and you dont. And taking things personally is fine by me, just drop the "too" if you know what I mean.

And having your opinion is also fine by me, even if it is not the same as mine, we could agree to disagree ;)

Ah fantastic, another bench racer who always knows the full story. Please feel free to share your insight with the community. I see poor cornering lines - those are my facts - for all to see. Now, corroborate your facts.

Did I offend you? I read my posts again, none of that...but being the bench racer that I am, I suppose I am stupid to.

No, no... You're missing the point.

I assessed the McLaren's cornering lines as being appalling - because they are. I can post my opinion.

You turn around and lecture me on how to react and how I should know the facts. Who are you to do this? What does this change? Did the McLaren's lines suddenly become better?

Instead, why don't you state what you know in a post so that we can have a productive discussion and not berate me for - heaven forbid - not knowing all the reasons why Paul Bailey was cornering like rubbish.
