P1 [Official] McLaren P1 Supercar

The McLaren P1 (codenamed P12) is a flagship sports car produced by McLaren Automotive. It is the second installment in McLaren's Ultimate Series after the McLaren F1. Considered to be the spiritual successor to the F1, the P1 was one of the first high performance sports cars to be introduced incorporating hybrid technology; the Porsche 918 Spyder having begun taking orders prior to the P1 and the LaFerrari introduced alongside it.
Absolutely stunning! One of the first P1s to be delivered, and the first one unofficially. It is chassis #046 and owned by the same person who has F1 #046. :)

Looks stunning, especially from the rear, however it will look better with the exposed carbon on the front bumper and the doors.

Very interesting - more colour coding on the blue one (front bumper and door inserts). I think it actually looks even better in this dress. Unlike the Huayra which needs a good measure of unpainted carbon fibre for it too look meaner and sleeker.

That rear wing is supposed to be strong enough for a small elephant to sit on.

Amazing car.

Why would McLaren develop a rear wing strong enough so a small elephant could sit on it? That's only going to be useful in a very small part of the world such as India. Hardly seems worthwhile.

LOL

They said so when Jay Leno was given a tour through the factory... I guess a baby elephant.. :D

^McLaren claims the P1 generates 600kg of downforce at 160mph, a significant portion of which is probably from the massive wing, so the wing supports have to be very strong indeed.

Gosh, that blue is gorgeous. Not fond of the white wheels. The white with black trim reminds me of an Imperial Storm trooper.

The more pics I see of the P1, the more I like it. Just wish it had a more exotic engine than it's "lesser" brethren. Not to say the engine is inferior, just something to differentiate it besides its state of tuning.

It is not just a different state of tune from the engine in 12C. Though it shares the architecture with M838T, most of the parts are new including the block -

McLaren describes it as 90 per cent new, with a wholly revised crank train, fuelling, heads and block.

The 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine in the McLaren P1™ is a new version of the M838T unit, called M838TQ. It is fitted with an all new pressure charging system to optimise cooling and durability under the higher loads. The engine block has a unique casting, to incorporate the electric motor and also to provide increased stiffness. - See more at: http://media.mclarenautomotive.com/model/7/EN/doc/49/#sthash.onKSIstq.dpuf

The turbos are also new.

So not much different from LaFerrari or Huayra which also share lesser versions of their engines with lesser models. Only 918 has a completely new and dedicated ICE.

I like the blue with white wheels. Kind off surprised that I actually do like white wheels.

I also like the open fender design.

If I remember correctly the 918 shares the same block as the LMP2 RS Spyder?

Other off topic issues are being reviewed by the moderator team..and there are a lot of discussions happening at the moment.

The upper part of the MonoCage is also painted. We will see quite a few P1's like this and one of them is in full McLaren Orange, no visible carbon fibre, it only has the Stealth Pack. The body assembly was done a few days ago and it's heading to the Middle East after it's finished. :)

I think it only shares the same architecture as the engine found in the RS Spyder. Please correct me if I'm wrong. :)
