....McLaren engineers quietly admit that it's at least as fast as the coupe on most circuits and probably faster on bumpy ones.

P1 and 765 are essentially exactly as quick as one another. This is confirmed by a friend of mine who has both (and a Senna, 918, etc.)

Handling? How much lighter is the 765 LT?

I haven’t asked him that specifically, I’d imagine the LT is about 400 pounds lighter. Mine weighed 3082 pounds with a full tank of fuel. It’s a 16 gallon tank. The P1 has more theatre but as far as pace, the LT prioritizes it and is quicker in the turns. Also remember the LT has 7 years newer traction control.

yesterday I was doing 160 mph with a passenger in the car and slammed on the brakes. The car never feels squirmish or scary. It just stops. It’s drama comes mostly from the amazing pace it can achieve.
