The McLaren 720S is a sports car designed and manufactured by McLaren Automotive. It is the second all-new car in the McLaren Super Series, replacing the 650S beginning in May 2017. The 720S is built on a modified carbon monocoque, which is lighter and stiffer than the previous model, the 650S.

It's funny how quickly McLaren's fly around, right?

Anyway I believe the driver is Nicolas Kiesa a former Danish Formula One driver! Nice driving!

Faster than Senna?

The Mclaren Senna lap was tested by a Finnish Magazine with a temporary chicane made out of traffic cones on it's lap.

That's how the Koenigsegg Regera "beat it" because it's lap like the current McLaren 720S lap above was without this feature.

This is what someone wrote there above~

"The Senna and most of the other cars lap times in this list, apart from the Regera obviously, are set in Scandinavian Sports Car of the Year group test by Finnish magazine "Tekniikat Maailma". They use an very tight artificial chicane though (can be seen here

), which adds at least couple of seconds disadvantage. So it really isn't fair to compare Regeras lap times to those."

In reality the Mclaren Senna would completely be quicker than both.🙂

Wow! Not seen this one! Only uploaded recentley thats why!:)

"2021 McLaren 720S goes 191.5MPH at TX Mile. He basically did 8 hot lap runs in under a hour. I didn't get to record his best. His best is as follows 1/4 Mile 142.4MPH 1/2 Mile 169.2MPH 1 Mile 193.1MPH." <Description.

One of my favourites. A Canadian example I believe. Pulls up, no fluff no bullshit and smashed an extraordinary good 1/2 mile. What a Supercar!🙂

Mile/Trap Speed

1/4= 141.30MPH
1/2= 171.60MPH
1= 198.40MPH

That's incredible I literally just found it, 200MPH in the standing 1 mile! There are Mclaren 720's that have gone above 174MPH in the 1/2 so somewhere out there perhaps, ones actually breached 200MPH! The Mclaren 765LT should be capable of pulling that feat off.

The car to my knowledge is absolutely stock and the 1/4 1/2 trap speeds are consistent with this.

Other Johnny Bohmer tested cars from memory have achieved these results but I'd need to check. :)

"It’s one thing to expect some quality issues from a cheap car, but this 43 mile McLaren 720S has some bizarre faults.
Panel gaps, corrosion, loose parts. These things almost don’t even make sense on a current production car. But that’s what YouTuber Jamie’s Garage has discovered. And of all cars to discover these issues, they are on a 43 mile McLaren 720S. Now, corrosion around some bolts isn’t much of a big deal, but loose bolts bring some serious doubt as to whether the rest of the car is actually screwed together properly."

😶

Someone showed me this and I was surprised. Still, an amazing car. It must be a rogue one.

Prefer the Lamborghini Huracan to it. Arguably the first gen Huracans are better value for money. While 720S is faster than the competitors, it also lacks the fun, reliability and personality of the Italian bull. Also you can do more with a Huracan aftermarket wise. Would take 720S over any TT V8 Ferrari though.

Prepare to Say GOODBYE to the McLaren 720S!

Production for the 710-hp supercar officially ended in December, with an unnamed successor already sold out into 2024.

"McLaren is ending production of the 720S supercar after a roughly five-year run, with a yet-to-be-named replacement already sold out well into 2024.

The 720S was unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show and went into production for the 2018 model year, replacing the 650S.

A McLaren spokesperson confirmed to Car and Driver that production for the 2023 model year officially ended in December 2022.

McLaren has sounded the death knell for its iconic and beloved 720S supercar. Production of 2023 model-year vehicles officially ended in December 2022, a spokesperson for the company confirmed to Car and Driver.

No official replacement has been announced, but speaking with Automotive News, McLaren's president of the Americas region Nicolas Brown told the outlet, "Customers, of course, they see that, 'OK, well, you can't order a 720 anymore.' They realize that production is ending. So putting two and two together, something is coming."

Despite no official replacement being revealed or even announced, Brown told AN that the company has taken deposits on the new car. In fact, he confirmed that the replacement vehicle is sold out "through deep into 2024."

The 720S was first unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show as a replacement for the 650S supercar. The twin-turbocharged V-8 powering the wheels is mounted behind the passenger compartment and makes 710 horsepower. Unleashing that power propels the 720S to 60 mph in well under three seconds and on to 120 mph in less than seven seconds.

We lapped a 2018 720S at our annual Lightning Lap testing where we deemed it "wonderfully fun and scary fast." Not only did it clock a 2:39.7 around the VIR Grand Course, joining an elite group of cars under 2:40; but it also recorded a mind-warping speed of 171.7 mph on the front straight.

We're always sad to see cars we love die off, especially with a car as fast and fun to drive as the 720S. The brand's newest car, the Artura, is quicker to 60 mph, but swaps the 4.0-liter V-8 for a hybrid V-6 paired to an electric motor. It's a cheaper entry, sure, but it's heavier and less powerful than the 720S. And it loses the sensory experience granted by the 720S. We'll surely miss the 720S as it exits stage left after 2023."

Incredibly impressively accomplishmed Supercar. It rewrote the rule book and even very recently was setting incredible laptimes.

The replacement needs to be 110% out of the gates.🙂

Farewell Britain’s best ever supercar. The expectations of the successor is are huge. 50kg is the weight difference between the 570s and Artura. Hopefully the same will be true for the 720s successor.

From what I gather that successor is a facelift 750S, the real hybrid 720S successor won't be revealed until 2024-2025.

Oh yeah that's 100% legitimately true. It's McLaren Artura based some say. I think it will be.

So this is the last of the pure internal combustion engined Mclaren's, the V8's.

Sad to see it go. Probably one of the best designed supercars in the last 10-15 years. It paid homage to its past without being blatant while carving out its own unique identity. I remember being flabbergasted by seeing the spy pics right before its debut of the front with that combination of headlight and air intake.
