LFA [Official] Lexus LF-A Supercar (Production Version)

Funny... I was sitting here at my desk working on an LF A project...

Noticed that Lexus' F Performance page got updated... Then found this thread. HA!

I can't wait to see the car in person. Maybe if I ask really, really nicely I'll get to drive the car (I know, keep dreaming).

Hey Osna, are you still involved with Lexus Marketing?

Stuff it. I'm always late to the party these days...

I love it. Absolutely LOVE it. It's different, non-conformist with oodles of the requisite petrolhead-ogling technology. I really want to see the variable engine inlets in operation. Over the top Toyota/Lexus! Who would've thought?

It's got an oddness to it - no doubt - but it is certainly distinctive and the interior is an unexpected delight: Land of the Rising Sun style. A 4.8 litre 72 degree V8 that smashes out 560HP? Epic. Quite a unique cylinder bank angle.

I'm loving the good sh!t that's coming out of Japan at the moment.

De-coupled from the drivetrain the engine will rev from idle to 9000 rpm in less than 6/10ths of a second. I guess you'd call that the throttle response of a precision engineered, naturally aspirated masterpiece.

The funny part of it is that in a short period of time many important car manufacturers unveiled their new/ first (some even mid-engined) supercars trying to get a piece of the cake. I'm talking about the Audi R8 V8/V10, Nissan GT-R, MB SLS and now Lexus with the LF-A.

Yeah, the segment is getting quite saturated now.

Dunno whats the fuss.

Specs are not as good as those of 458 Italia and MP4-12C and it costs twice as much. Thumbs down.

It would be a great car for 150K euros. 375K euro price is just silly for this though.

:t-hands: :jpshakehe: :thumbdwn:

The specs are impressive enough but as we all know, they don't tell one third of the story. This car has enough emotional and visual drama to appeal to the performance car enthusiast who's looking for something different.

In this regard, the LF-A differentiates itself sufficiently and then backs this up with an intoxicating soundtrack (oh my goodness - that clip is awesome Tyc), meticulous engineering and a bold interior.

Close friends' father is the CEO of his own successful company. Loves Lexus to bits, on his fifth one now. I wonder how much he's going to want that LF-A?

Sure, I'd never buy one at the money. But, there are people out there who would and I'm certain that they won't be disappointed.

The engine spins so quickly that Lexus says it had to use a digital tach because an analog version couldn’t keep up.

I find this a bit hard to believe... I have owned bikes with analog tachometers that rev to 16000rpm and accelerate faster than this thing and have never seen the tach needle fail to keep up. Maybe Toyota should have asked Yamaha for some help with this or is it just their marketing department talking BS.

Very impressive specs..right there with the F458..the first EVER Lexus i'd buy if i could afford one.

^ Not disputing your point ACE.

What Lexus wants us to believe is that the engine goes from idle to 9000 rpm in 6/10ths of a second. So it's the rate of response that Lexus is apparently trying hard to illustrate.

Does a bike engine go from idle to 9000 rpm in 6/10ths? I don't know.

Japanese engineers are usually quite forthright and honest about their engineering - I would expect them to be matter-of-fact about such things.

Yes, $375K is a bit too much, especially for a marque that's untested in this kind of market. But the tech is nothing to sneeze at. The car is impressive in the sheer fact Toyota/Lexus has not developed a car of this caliber. Many out there had great reservations whether Toyota would be able to accomplish this feat. The bar was probably set low, but this car seems to have taken an astronomical leap over set bar.

Martinbo, I completely agree with what you said. This and the McLaren are such a left-field choice from the regular Ferrari/Lambo crowd, that garners some appeal. This car will be a delight for 4 of the 5 senses. The 5th if one likes the taste of Alcantara and leather.:D

PS: there needs to be an epic battle between Gallardo Balboni, 458, SLS, MP4-whatchamacallit, the LF-A, 911 turbo, R8, and GTR spec-V...jsut thinking about all that power and precision makes me:banana:

Maybe they are using an European or American PR department :D

Lexus, Lexus, Lexus...didn't you learn from the LS600h about overpricing cars?

$375k....So that possibly more then the SLS AMG, 458 and that long named McLaren?

This has the potiental to fail from the start. Plus it's their first try in the sports car arena. At least Nissan GT-R has remarkable performance and a cheap price tag. Plus it just looks like you basic sports car with no "remarkable details".

The LF-A, will be the R-class of Lexus. Just wait...
