F-Pace [Official] Jaguar C-X17 Concept is now F-Pace Crossover Reality

The Jaguar F-Pace (X761) is a compact luxury crossover SUV made by Jaguar Land Rover. It is the first Jaguar model in the SUV class.
BMW long ago set apart its road-biased SUV concept and coined their own term - SAV. As much as I hate the term, it is distinctly BMW who chose to break the association with traditional SUVs. Jaguar is doing nothing new here, in fact they're horribly late to the party. Jaguar better hurry up, there are only three more vowels available: E, I, O for:

SEV - Sport-Egregious Vehicle [A close runner up is Sport-Effluent Vehicle]
SIV - Sport-Indifferent Vehicle
SOV - Sport-Obscurity Vehicle

I think the SOV(Some Other Vehicle)abbreviation should be reserved for cars like the Tiguan and the Qashqai which are neither sporty and nor do they have good utility because they are useless off road.

Although Jaguar is late to the party it appears that every new SUV that enters the market feeds the appetite for more variants. I'm curious as to how it will work out for Jaguar and Bentley who already manufacture heavy, under steering pigs that are close to two ton in weight. Their SUVs are bound to be obscenely heavy.

Jaguar F-Pace teased ahead of 2016 launch, will be a C-X17 production version
Previewed by C-X17 concept
Jaguar has announced through a teaser photo their high-riding model will be commercialized with the "F-Pace" moniker.

Essentially a production version of the C-X17 concept, the Jaguar F-Pace will be “the ultimate practical sports car” according to global sales director Andy Goss. Rather than being labeled as a crossover or SUV, Jaguar calls this their “family sports car” sharing the same lightweight platform with the XE compact sedan from where it will likely inherit the engine lineup.

Other details are not available at this point but we do know the model is scheduled to go on sale in 2016 and will likely be offered not only with four seats but also with five as previewed by the conceptshowcased at Guangzhou Auto Show back in November 2013. Jaguar says their new model will combine an exterior design influenced by their sports car with a "thoroughly practical and spacious luxury interior."

Wow, what can I say? The attention to detail is absolutely stunning. The Jag's interior blows away every Audi, BMW, Mercedes, and Volvo on the road. It's downright gorgeous!!!

Jaguar F-Pace to be unveiled in September at Frankfurt Motor Show
On sale next year
Jaguar global brand director Steven de Ploey has announced the F-Pace will be officially unveiled at Frankfurt Motor Show set for September.

British marque is currently putting the finishing touches on their first ever crossover which will be commercialized starting next year with the much criticized "F-Pace" moniker. The model has already been caught on camera several times and Jaguar has also released a teaser pic to build up hype before the full reveal in Germany.

It will basically be a production version of the C-X17 concept introduced in September 2013 at the Frankfurt Motor Show and will have a lot in common with the XE and XF models from where it will inherit the iQ[Al] platform as well as the Ingenium four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. Jaguar is likely cooking up an F-Pace S which will get a supercharged V6 3.0-liter engine pushing out 340 bhp (253 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) while a V8-powered range-topping SVR version is likely on the agenda as well with a supercharged V8 5.0-liter rated at 550 bhp (410 kW) and 502 lb-ft (680 Nm) like in the Range Rover Sport SVR.

There are also talks about a fully electric derivative set to join the lineup later on during the car's lifespan with a maximum range of around 300 miles (483 km). The electrified F-Type will allegedly be out for the 2018 model year and is expected to share the hardware setup with an unknown Range Rover-badged EV.

The 2016 Jaguar F-Type has been spied undergoing testing in Europe.

Set to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the F-Type follows in the footsteps of the C-X17 concept and adopts a rectangular grille that is flanked by large air intakes and familiar looking headlights. Additional styling details are hard to make out but we can see an upward sweeping belt line, a tailgate-mounted spoiler and a dual exhaust system.

Specifications remain unconfirmed but the model is slated to ride on the iQ[Al] platform and feature an assortment of Ingenium four-cylinder engines. The model should also be offered with a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 that develops 340 bhp (253 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque.

I see another cost cutting interior. Those rear door panels look so cheap.

It's cost-cutting indeed. Even the doors in the Jaguar XE don't have any trim on them. In some colours it makes the interior look like a 1990 Opel Omega

I don't think it will deter people from placing orders. Mark my words, the F-Pace will be Jaguar's best selling car ever.

Door panels are the XE's weakest part. It's really not ok!

Still, the exterior design, although not extraordinary, it's quite elegant and actually very good! True RWD sport sedan!

The camouflage is starting to come off the 2016 / 2017 Jaguar F-Pace as the latest spy photos have revealed the crossover's aggressive front fascia.

While we've already seen the model countless times before, the latest pictures reveal the F-Pace will have a sizable grille and five separate air intakes. The rest of the crossover is heavily camouflaged but we can see slender headlights, an upward sweeping beltline and a sloping roof. Other highlights include a steeply raked rear window, a tailgate-mounted spoiler and relatively small taillights.

Jaguar has been tight-lipped about specifications but the model will ride on the iQ[Al] platform and feature an assortment of Ingenium four-cylinder engines as well as a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 that develops 340 bhp (253 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque.

Uh-oh. It's going to be a good looking car I'm afraid to say. Drat.
