They say engine is a negative point, not going over 7000 rpm. Record at this moment is 1.09.4 (Huracan Performante, but the hadn't yet test GT 2 Rs)

Quattroruote test
0-100 3.3
0-200 9.8
0-400 m 11.0 - 212.2
0-1000 m 19.8 - 268.7
Vairano lap time 1.11.112
As expected . Very fast but not among the fastest, despite it's racing pedigree. The engine is one week point, but what I don't understand is why it is not lighter. It is a racing car converted for street, how can it be so heavy?

Those are some yesterday`s numbers. It looks great, it has an impressive top speed and it seems to be a good driving experience. Apart from that it`s a flop.

I still don't quite understand this car, for all the aero, race car chassis setup, it still can't match...the 720s, Huracan Performante

Yes, I can't really understand it either. The Huracan Performante has a little less power and a little higher weight, but still outperforms the GT on similar type of tyres. It seems it has a more effective aerodynamic package than the racecar Ford GT.... I think this also says a lot of how good the Performante is.

He should do pink with gold stripes and bronze wheels. Also orange interior on the inside.

I would say it's the raw feel of the car and the appeal of it literally being based on their race GT race car, because numbers wise it doesn't cut it and it cost more than any of those cars too. It needed a V8.

It does need a V8, Ford simply cannot compete in this segment with a twin turbo V6. it might make sense on the race track for endurance racing, with the balance of speed, fuel consumption and other performance balancing regulations, but it doesn't translate well to a road going super car.

I do want to see the corner entry, apex and exit speed of the car compare to the 720s, the Performante etc.

Ford didn't build a car to compete in this segment, they built the car to win in Endurance racing.

Is the car doing well in its 2nd year of competition?

3rd year for the car now IIRC, and the powertrain was in use in the Ganassi Riley-Ford DP's prior to being in the Ford GT where I believe as an engine it was also a race winner in the DP class.

It's done fairly well. They seemed pretty clear the objective was Le Mans 24 hours, which they achieved in their first year. Last year they got 2nd place, and we're a month away from the 2018 race. It's certainly held its own against it's V8 powered rivals anyway.

I'm not saying it's the best thing since sliced bread or anything, but if it's raison d'etre was racing, it's been a success, and that validates any technical decisions they made. I don't know enough about Ford engines to know if they had anything more suitable by way of a V8 though.

I don't think the V6 is the problem (911 GT2 RS also has a 6 sylinder, although a more carismatich boxer), I think the car is to heavy. Real weigth of 1520-1530 kg is more than expected from this race-derivated car. And the aero is not more effective than on other street supercars (Huracan Performante, 911 GT2 RS). We expected more from this hyped-up supercar.

I doubt it races with the suspension and aero hydraulic systems onboard, so that likely accounts for a fair amount of weight.

I'm curious as to what your yardstick for effective aero is in the comparison though?

I see that Huracan Performante and 720S (on Corsa's!) has higher G in the corners in Big Willow track when tested by Motortrend. And when tested by Quattroruote in Vairano track Huracan Performante has higher G and corner speed (720S not tested yet). When looking at the extreme aero design of the GT I simply expected it to dominate against these more conventional designed cars.
Regarding weight the Ford GT has a real weight of 150-200 kg more than McLaren 675LT wich it was benchmarked against. This is quite a lot!

The performante does have some intriguing Aero devices. I think it's possible the GT was designed with the ratio between drag and downforce in mind, rather than peak values for the latter. They had to consider the aero performance of the race car, which isn't allowed those kinds of active aerodynamic devices.

Yes, I think you could have a point there. This could be the reason for why it is not topping the grip list...
