So, do you guys think Ford's marketing strategy has worked for the GT? It doesn't seem to be able to sustain the momentum after the initial hype. I don't see anymore new videos from owners sharing their experience so far.

No, I don't think so. Their policies are way too restrictive and the car is over-priced compared to competition the way the LFA was. Also, owners are not allowed to release reviews on the cars without prior approval from Ford. It's actually in the contract

Wow, it's not that serious Ford. John Cena being sued by Ford for reselling his GT.

"Ford Motor Company is taking things a step further however—the company filed a lawsuit Thursday against Cena in the U.S. District Court in Michigan for breach of contract, fraudulent misrepresentation, and unjust enrichment. The suit alleges that Cena flipped the car for a significant profit too soon after his purchase in violation of the contract he signed with Ford to purchase the 2017 Ford GT:

Mr. Cena has unfairly made a large profit from the unauthorized resale flip of the vehicle, and Ford has suffered additional damages and losses, including, but not limited to, loss of brand value, ambassador activity, and customer goodwill due to the improper sale.
Ford wants Cena to hand over any profits he made from the sale and is also asking for compensation for “other damages including, but not limited to, damages for loss of brand value, ambassador activity, and customer goodwill, which exceed $75,000.” "

Just read that on Jalopnik....

I am conflicted. If you bought it, you own it, you do whatever you damn well want with it.

But if you enter in a contract, you're expected to abide by that contract. Nobody put a gun to Cena's head to sign the contract. He was made aware of the terms many times during the process. It wasn't sprung on him at the last minute.

I don't understand why Ford put such clause in the contract at all? I mean, you buy a very expenisve car to be fully owned by you, yet you cannot sell it after some time you realize you actually don't like it?:confused:

I hope Cena wins, but I doubt it since he signed on the dotted line.

I actually hope he loses. These cars should be for true enthusiasts not people looking to make a quick and easy buck.

The Candy Apple red GT featured in this week's Grand Tour looked sensational. Also cool to see it driving through NYC & Central Park:

Love the Ford GT, but couldn't help but think.... what if they followed the same principle as the last GT? Same world beating performance for the era, but more "reasonably" priced and less limited production. Incredible looks, but it's just not worth $453K base or the dumb hassle to even get one.

The 2005-06 Ford is commanding double price (triple for the Heritage edition), despite the fact that 4038 (target was 4500) were built. The orginal MSRP was $139k, but since day 1 of production no '05-'06 Ford GT has dipped below that. The last GT also turned a profit, if I recall correctly.

They apparently had over 6000 applicants for 500 units, presuming that applicants had some idea of the price - and by virtue of the fact they applied in the first place - that would indicate that neither the price tag or the hassle to get one was much of an issue for Ford. Besides that, it's not like people were going into dealers and actually picking the last one up for $139k.

I would guess that having Multimatic construct it for them (alongside the race car) probably cost Ford a lot more, and came with more production restrictions too. Going to a company that builds racing cars, and asking them to build you a car to win Le Mans, and then to put it into production is a different proposition to the previous car, but that is just my supposition.
