It will be interesting to see how those carbon fiber wheels age with heat and the elements. I forgot which YouTuber was complaining about their F430's CF engine covers yellowing.
 
Love the aero work on that car much neater than McLaren's ugly kits and rear spoilers.
 
Interesting to note Ferrari's approach to turbocharger location - besides the obvious contrast to the in-vogue hot-V layout - notice that the turbos are placed comparatively further away from the outlet ports. It's interesting because modern-day thinking is to locate the turbocharger as close to the outlet ports as possible - using the shortest-possible exhaust manifold - in order to, supposedly, improve spool-up response. Considerably longer exhaust manifolds than those of the GT2 RS.

Both approaches have their pros and cons, and the newer isn't necessarily the better.

Having the turbocharger as close to the exhaust outlets as possible means that the turbocharger gets to exploit high energy density exhaust gasses, therefore having bigger work potential. Also, a turbocharger close to the outlets, means that the distance to the catalytic converter is also smaller and the exhaust gasses reach it in a higher temperature, thereby reducing emissions.

The exhaust gasses' flow, on the other hand is highly turbulent when they exit the combustion chamber. A certain length of pipage will help make the flow more laminar, therefore reducing losses and increasing effectiveness of the turbocharger. Also, the higher the temperature of the exhaust gasses, the higher the stress in the components. Also, as temperature become higher, designing tolerance between components becomes massively tricky. A larger effective temperature band requires larger tolerances, and that completely screws lubrication.(*)

The greatest example of everything screwed by wrong tolerances is the first generation of VW's TFSI engines.

(*) Lubricant fluid film pressure is, among others, a function of the gap between the two surfaces. As temperatures vary greatly, the gap also changes, even by an order of magnitude. Too tight of a gap and you're a molecule away from contact, and too loose of a gap that the lubricant can't create a pressure field.

Seeing the Pista in motion run through its paces at the N'ring really ups the desirability.

BTW, I can't recollect in prior instances, but it seems like this is the first time I've seen Ferrari officially use the Nordeschleife for developmental pruposes. I don't recall the F12/812, 488GTB, FF/Lusso, or any prior Ferraris in camo being strung out on the 'Ring.

Ferrari took the F12 to the Ring on a manufacturer test day.
