488 [Official] Ferrari 488 Pista

The Ferrari 488 (Type F142M) is a mid-engine sports car produced by Ferrari. Production: 2015-2020. Predecessor: Ferrari 458. Successor: Ferrari F8.
The ensuing battle of fan boy excuses of why their favorite car didn't really lose - tires, track, weather, wind, driver's age, ball size - will be the real "real deathmatch".
Lucky Emu is not here he would rattle on for 100’s of times about the P1 tyres not pumped to full pressure so it didn’t beat the Performante around N-ring. :ROFLMAO:

Ferrari will probably charge at least $20k for the new carbon wheels

They would have to make it slower than the LaFerrari to save face, so it wouldn't be a genuine time anyway.
Why? LaFerrari is sold out, new car could be faster... 720s is already faster than P1, this is called progress.

I do wonder how much of that progress is down to modern tire technology, what if the LaFerrari and the P1 has the latest tires?

Seems to take a significant part. Sport Auto (France) mentioned tire progress as one of the reason Huracan Performante did a better lap time than the 918 on Le Mans.

That is my thought really, I remember reading something similar with the Carrera GT, since Michelin offered the updated tires for it, not only did the car have more grip, it was also more progressive at the limit, hence it was able to get some really fast lap times. I would like to see someone doing a full performance test on the 918, LaFerrari and the P1 with modern spec tires.

If i correctly remember they also said the track surface was grippier. So the Porsche could have been 1.5 seconds faster in Le Mans

I copy and past this from Lauren T
"Quick info from the article : surface of the track has changed and apparently improved since they tested the 918. They consider with better tires (Sport Cup 2) and current track conditions, 918 could better its time by 1.5sec".

Yeap alright, going to keep this about the 488 Pista before it goes off topic.

I confirm this :).

Ferrari aren't like McLaren though, past evidence shows that they don't like to beat their last hypercar's lap times at Fiorano with supercars.

Just looking at the last pic in my post above, I wish Ferrari was more discreet with the door's release.

I assume it has some aerodynamic purpose to it. As for those CF wheels, the technology is finally at the stage where they are shaped like normal wheels with thin spokes and with some concavity, unlike those on the Ford GT and Koenigsegg

Hopefully, no more cracked rims... the factor then kept autmakers from offering then on production cars for years.
