458 [Official] Ferrari 458 Speciale

The Ferrari 458 Italia (Type F142) is a mid-engine sports car produced by Ferrari. Production: 2009-2015. Predecessor: Ferrari F430. Successor: Ferrari 488.
This is just sickening.

High Ferrari 458 Speciale Demand Forces Clients to Add Optional Extras

Customers are going to extraordinary lengths to buy the Ferrari 458 Speciale. Earmarked as a potential collector’s item, some prospective buyers have been told a £20,000 deposit would only put them on a list of possible clients to be considered for the car.

With production of the V8 458 expected to end in March, others have been informed they are unlikely to receive one now unless they choose a very high number of optional extras that would push other customers off the waiting list.

Director of Magnitude Finance, Tim Marlow, said, “One client ordered the car many months ago but he was subsequently advised to increase the options he selected to guarantee delivery simply because others are prepared to go pay over the odds to get one new.”

Magnitude Finance says demand is so high because it is the last naturally aspirated V8 458 to be made, contributing to it being seen as a future classic.

Many are vying for the opportunity to be the first owner of their 458 Italia, as it is perceived that one-owner Speciale models will be highly sought-after in years to come, much like the Ferrari 360 Challenge and 430 Scuderia 16M.

I would like to know what Sebastian Vettel think about the Speciale...

The unmistakable pops and raps of a Mazda rotary interrupt the whip-poor-will's haunting call. It's past dusk on a sticky June day, and across the valley, the fleeting light outlines the mountain. The road over there is a half-mile away, cut into the hillside, hidden by a lush coating of sugar maples and hemlocks. > Except for the unseen whip-poor-will and an army of chirping crickets, I'm alone, standing on the same road. A few hours ago, this section of U.S. Route 129, alternately known as the Tail of the Dragon (or simply the Dragon), was clogged with Harleys and gawking tourists. But now it's empty, to the wildlife and the man in the Mazda. > His headlights break through the trees every few seconds. He's driving hard, big downshift blips, each upshift coming at what sounds like redline. I'm listening for a mistake, a break in the engine's sweep or the screech of a sliding tire, hoping he's not as good as the locals claim. > After all, I came here to beat him.

Ferrari 458 Speciale Tiffany Blue shows up at Ferrari of Newport Beach gathering

Not an ordinary color for a Ferrari
A Ferrari 458 Speciale featuring a striking Tiffany Blue paint showed up at a gathering organized by Ferrari of Newport Beach.

Most Ferrari customers select a red, black or yellow paint when configuring their prancing horse but one owner decided not to follow the trend as he went for a Tiffany Blue hue which makes the 458 Speciale stand out even more. He brought his car during a holiday cruise organized by Ferrari of Newport Beach where a wide variety of other models participated, including another $298,000 458 Speciale (painted in red) and the beloved F40.

Basically all current Ferraris were there, with the exception of the range-topping LaFerrari and the 458 Speciale’s open-top sibling called Aperta of which only 499 units are being planned.

We remind you Ferrari is facing a high demand for the Speciale which is why they areprioritizing orders based on their value. In other words, the more equipment a client adds to his Speciale, the more chances he will have getting the car. Consequently, ordering the "basic" 458 Speciale will probably put you at the bottom of the order list, with slim chances of actually getting the car.

It certainly looks distinctive. I am glad that Ferrari are allowing buyers to choose a multitude of colours instead of the usual red, black, yellow and silver that was only available for so many years.

Mclifes woppum review of his speciale:

Firstly it's by far the best car I've ever driven and to be honest I have driven most things including a lot of the greats from ferraris own stable. What sets it apart is how light and nimble the car is, instantaneous in every action whether it is changing direction, accelerating or breaking. The Italia was fantastic in this regard and to be honest when I bought the speciale I thought there really would not be that much difference however in just a few miles in the car I could tell it was going to offer more. A massive plus for me is the new traction control system. In the Italia it was very safe, even in race really you could only make it twitch meaning really it was a traction off or on car in the real world. Now in race you can still modulate the throttle on moderate drifts....so much more enjoyable and there is still that safety net I'd you extend that little bit too far. Now sport is the new race so if you need that extra support its there.
Next is the looks.

To me one of the best cars looking cars of my generation. I thought it was a little awkward and over designed when I first saw it at your launch, couldn't disagree more now have it. What's fantastic with ferrari's, and especially these special editions is you can really customise them to the point where they are almost individual. I'm always searching the web for fiorano speciale's and I have only found one in the US but that has a different stripe and gold wheels. I will probably never find another car like mine.
The electronics are vastly improved too, the phone book works and the reception for the radio is far better.

The weak points on the car:
- the sound quality of the hi fi it really terrible. I realise I seem to be in the minority of Ferrari owners that care about this - most say they have never turned them on but I use my cars as much as I possibly can and Ferrari really should offer a decent upgrade in the car. I know they do this in their other models but in my experience even those are not good enough.
- the phone book, although now working is a nightmare to try to navigate while on the move.
- last but not least - the noise the car makes was a bit of a disappointment. Very muffled and not in keeping with the looks of the car at all. I realise this was most probably done due for EU drive by laws and stringent track DB limits but could they not have offered a solution as an option when special the car. I know buckets of speciale owners and this is the biggest and really only complaint anyone has about the car. 360 CS and 599 GTO standard is where a track ready Ferrari should be in my view.

In summery :
If I could describe the car in a three words it would be neurotic, angry and stunning - however despite All this Ferrari have somehow managed to make a car this exciting yet manageable on a daily basis. Somehow I need to gain enough self discipline to not pick the keys to this car up everyday as during the course of this lifetime could result in catastrophic mileage. I never plan to sell this car and wouldn't swap it for anything money no object, it's me all over.

I have now covered 1200 miles in the car. It is absolutly mental, mad as a box of frogs. Nothing changes direction like this. It's biggest talent is how it feels so compact, like a 911, even more so than an Italia simply because it it so precise to the mm. You know exactly where you are with the car on the road. When it oversteers you correct it, I'm no driving god and the speciale flatters. It does not matter whether you are stuck in traffic or hammering the car - it feels an event everywhere. Best car I've ever been in by a massive margin. Just was not expecting so much of an upgrade to be honest. Thought it was just a newer version of my last car with a cool paint job !

I like him..I appreciate a British enthusiast defending an Italian product inside one of the most conservative Forum I know (Mclaren life).A rare case of pure Red Passion. About the exhaust note :I love the sound and for me is more than acceptable. Way better than my past Gt3..And about Gt3 I am totally sure that the new 991 Rs will be the only car capable to beat the Speciale in most of the Race Tracks we know..and could be the only car capable to substitude my Speciale.
I agree with him about all other comments. ..It is simply unreal what she is able to do just after you give your imput. ..expecially on a Race circuit..What a car..Mission accomplished Ferrari..

Now that the sun has come out for the first time in what feels like half a year (even more, actually) I realise that there are a few of them roaming the streets of my town. That sound is something speciale.

Looking at the video it seems the 20,6 km configuration. The driver is Manu, an high skilled non pro driver. Two people on board. Impressive lap time.
