Z Series [Official] E89 BMW Z4

The BMW Z models are a line of roadsters manufactured by German automaker BMW. The Z stands for Zukunft (German for future), and has been produced in four different series with six generations consisting of roadster, coupé, sports car, and concept variants. The introduction of the M Coupé and M Roadster in the Z3 line marked the first of the Z series to have a high-performance BMW M variant. The first generation Z4 also continued to offer M Coupé and M Roadster variants. The current Z4 (G29) uses BMW's (B58B30) inline-six, its platform is the basis for the current Toyota Supra.
Re: E89 Z4 Official Pictures

Sdrive 35i= 1800kg....!:eusa_doh:

That's incorrect. See correct weights below.

Blame that on the four wheel drive system:t-banghea

I'd just stick to the rear whee drive;)

It's RWD not four-wheel drive. sDrive has nothing to do with AWD. :usa7uh:

Weights:

sDrive23i: 1480 kg (1505 kg)

sDrive30i: 1490 kg (1505 kg)

sDrive35i: 1580 kg (1600 kg)

First weight with standard 6-speed manual
Second weight with optional transmission (sDrive23i & sDrive30i: 6-speed sport auto; sDrive35i: 7-speed DCT)

This car has been COMPLETELY designed by a team of female designers ... almost:

Juliane Blasi - exterior design
Nadya Arnaout - interior design (the one who designed CS Concpet interior as well)
Hilke Schaer - materials, trim & colors

Great work, girls. :D

The only chap to complete the girl's work was the interior detail designer: Felix Baerlin

Forget old Z4, this looks like a modern interpretation of Z8. Beautiful car.

And it shows. Despite the daring design the appearance is softer and romantic compared with the predecessor or the X6. The pricing for the sDrive23i shall be interesting as the specs are very appealing for a inner city cruiser. Performance figure on a whole are looking reasonable given the hard top folding roof.

It doesn't matter whether it was men or women who designed the car. For me the most important thing is that it looks VERY aggressive and sporty.

Some great shots there. I see that BMW has made a 180 turn here and gone back to the essence of the Z3. The E85 Z4 is very much a man's car and you hardly ever see a woman behind the wheel of one, it's like the S2000 which is always targeted to hardcore roadster enthusiast.

The new interior says it all, it's like a mini SL which attracts people looking for a comfortable glider, sporty coupe or simply a luxury car. There's huge potential in this car becoming the class leader as it looks highly versatile and will certainly make Mercedes step up the game as the unique selling point of the SLK has always been the hard top folding roof. Now when the Z4 does the trick too the SLK is no longer a super star.

Re: Z4 Official photos

Damn, that's a beautiful car.

BTW...didn't I say that they would leak on Saturday. :D

:icondrool:icondrool:icondrool:icondrool:icondrool

Only have to get used to the headlights; they look kind of weird in the pics straight from the front :t-crazy2: Maybe it's just me though, it's 4.15 am and I just got home from a party...

For the rest, pretty much perfection. sDrive35i with 7-speed DCT sounds so freaking cool to drive :bowdown:

Edit;

Ohhh sooo pretty in motion!!! Thanks Deutsch!!!

Go to hell...!!!
Thats what im talking about..
SHIT
This is pure BMW..
AMAZING..
If this is what the end result of the new design language is..then i forgive all ugly BMW before this..
Its PERFECTION..the side profile is retro and sooo 507/Z8ish
The front is maybe one of the best in the car world EVER..and its not even an M version yet..
And the rear is classic roadster..short and beefy..

This car needed a Hardtop folding roof and it got it..
There is nothing to complain about anymore..

S:T:U:N:N:E:R

PS
Ohh and the interior.. ahhhh Again very Z8..

To be honest this is the best looking BMW after the Z8 ...

10/10 kudos to BMW...

I Just woke up, what a perfect start for this day

Amazing, just perfect in every detail, pure s@x on wheels :icondrool:icondrool:icondrool :t-cheers:

BMW has a real winner.
Blows the competition to dust !

Fantastic design, impressive attention to detail. That massive and intricately shaped bonnet must be expensive and difficult to manufacture.

I noticed something interesting, there seems to be a small light behind the inner lens of the headlights. This is my wimmer style paint job to point it out. The small light seems to have its own light ring around it.

Very, Very nice

Interior is stunning and seems to live up to the promise of the CS (can only imagine what the 8 would have looked like).

On the exterior, the only 'issue' I need to resolve are the two cut lines that terminate above the front wheel well - - seems a bit odd. Anyone seen pics with the hood open?
