Corvette (C8) [Official] Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (C8)

The Chevrolet Corvette (C8) is the eighth generation of the Corvette sports car manufactured by American automobile manufacturer Chevrolet. It is the first rear mid-engine Corvette since the model's introduction in 1953, differing from the traditional front mid-engine design started in 1963. The C8 was announced in April 2019, and the coupe made its official debut on July 18, 2019, in Tustin, California.
That’s excellent if a curb weight.
Dry weight, sadly, and that's the dry weight with carbon wheels and the C07 package. Which means real weight of about 1680kg and 1700kg without the carbon wheels. Which is a bit disappointing, if in line with the C7 generation where the Z06 also ended up heavier than the standard model. Actually, from a roll, the C7 Z06 might be faster - since it's 100kg lighter and with only 20hp less. But regardless, the car having a 5.5L NA V8 engine renders most performance stats rather moot. Just the weight being so high is a shame - and still pretty inexplicable to my eyes.

to be sincere? not the best looking one in the category for sure, but the one to buy...That sound, that engine...that price...That angry look in the Z07 version. I am sold
Agreed. This will be one, if not the very last supercar with an NA engine. Basically a classic in the making.

Totally agree but I bet someone will buy a wrecked example and shed some serious weight with an ariel atom / exocet build.

Yes, exactly.
Pennies compared to 600k.
What's 600k? You mean the 458 Speciale? That's seems to be more in the $300-400k range at the moment. But regardless, I think it's a bit premature to compare the Z06 to that car. For one, the Speciale weighed like 1450kg, this is 1700kg. And the Speciale also wasn't hilariously overtired and grip obsessed - it had 245s at the front and 305s at the rear. The Z06 has 275/345s. I doubt the driving experience is gonna be anything alike. Besides, you can buy a lots of used mid-engined supercars with great NA engines any time you want, some of them even with manuals. What exactly is putting the Z06 above all of those?

The Z06 will absolutely take the 458 speciale in a straight line. 458’s just aren’t really that quick. Both the base and speciale tail off in acceleration after like 110/120. And you can feel it. They’re brilliant though. If this is as good to drive as a speciale it’s the most special car to ever come out of America.

The Speciale Aperta is now selling for over 600k. It is a more direct comparison since you can take the top off on the Z06 Coupe. But let's go with 400k vs 90k.
On your last question: The simple fact that you can buy a brand new car with these specs(which no other car has ever gotten close to or likely ever will), for this price is what puts this car above all in my book. I'm not saying it would feel exactly like a Speciale drive wise but I don't think you'll need skinny tires to make this thing do playful stuff either.
I don't like overly grippy cars either and it's one of my main gripes with the 992 cars but one should not forget this Z06 has close to 700HP.

May not be the prettiest thing, but this f***er is straight-up brutal. Love it.

I wonder if trunk space suffers and how hot it gets in there with this centrally-placed exhaust system as those were the reasons for going with more outboard exhaust tips on the base Stingray.

Like , is it a good thing to be NA?
Depends. There tends to be more reliably linear power delivery with NA engines, and in this case, with a freer, higher-revving engine, it also is aurally pleasing.

Isn't it like....decades old useless massive engine ?

No, the LT6 is a clean-sheet* DOHC 4-valve/cyl set-up.

*There was chatter a while ago that the hot-vee turbo 4.5L "Blackwing" V8 briefly found in the Caddy CT6 shared some bits, but considering this is a NA engine, I am not so sure about that.
