Corvette (C8) [Official] Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (C8)

The Chevrolet Corvette (C8) is the eighth generation of the Corvette sports car manufactured by American automobile manufacturer Chevrolet. It is the first rear mid-engine Corvette since the model's introduction in 1953, differing from the traditional front mid-engine design started in 1963. The C8 was announced in April 2019, and the coupe made its official debut on July 18, 2019, in Tustin, California.
A glorified agricultural machinery over a precision weapon? Oh, wow!

:p
What’s agricultural about the Vet. Europeans most that the US only roll coal and make tyre shredding muscle car. Here we have a competent mid engined super car to change that perception.

Even if it was the greatest drivers car on the market, it doesn't have the badge 'appeal' of Porsche here. Non car people recognise a Porsche, I doubt most people would know what the 'vette is. I also don't think the C8 has any classic muscle car charm at all - even the Camaro, has more appeal than this to me personally.

... add in the historic perception of American cars being badly made gas guzzlers bought by people who favour the confederate flag, and it's little surprise that the C8 only appears to sell a fraction of what cars like the 718 GT4 do.

I get that this statement is a bit tongue in cheek and I would agree there's some validity to it in prior gens, but this Z06 is not it. That said, I'd have a tough time choosing this over any legit Porsche GT product in the last 10 years as my sluttiness for most Porsche products is fairly well-established in these parts.

Totally outdated perception and the Corvette is far better built than the cheap and flimsy Camaro. You have some sales numbers?

It probably is an outdated perception, but it is one that a lot of people still hold, rightly or wrongly. You have to bare in mind that so many cars you see a hundred times a day are virtually non existent here (the C8 is the first time we get a RHD Corvette for example), so the time taken to change perceptions is going to be quite long.

Up to Q1 this year there are (coincidentally) 718 Porsche 718 GT4's on the road, registrations of the C8 would appear to be about 37*. As best as I can tell, there's 1 single actual Corvette dealer in the UK, and according to their website, they have none in stock.

*Corvette registration figures are a mess because of how many personal imports there are, and how many people register them for the summer, then declare them off road over the winter, and register the following summer, basically for American car shows and the nice weather. In total there's <1,900 corvettes of all generations and types in the UK on the road, that's much less than 1 months sales of the current car in the USA.

The 718 is a child's toy compared to this Vette.
Love the Z06. It wish it had a different rear though.

A couple of months ago, I went to an american motor/muscle car show in here. While not a 296 kind of beauty, the C8 looks perfectly fine and proper super car.
Also, the proportion thing is only evident when looking from a low angle: in other words, never....in everyday point of view, it just looks exotic. I looks great along other gens Vettes, too

Clue's in the name ;) :D

Honestly, if I'm offered a 718, a C8, or a C7... I'm taking the C7. 296 or Ford GT, I'm taking the GT. I like Japanese cars, but if I was picking a Supra or a Challenger, I'd take the Challenger, hands down... I don't have anything against American cars personally, I just really don't like C8 - and for a multitude of reasons, the UK market is clearly not that keen on such cars... or American cars in general.

There's some awkwardness from some angles with the C8, i.e. it looks disproportionally wide from the rear 3/4 angle and the headlight is odd looking. And a Corvette, in my book, ought not look as angular as it does.

But... I can overlook all that with that V8 in that Z06. In the last 20 years, this car is a top-20 car for me. It's a special thing. In the top-20, there are a lot of cars from Porsche's GT division that occupy that space too.

Very impressed by this car. I wish the upshifts were more aggressive and more satisfying to my ears lol.

Anyway someone got 2.8 0-60 from the heavy convertible on the cold weather conditions.
That makes me think It can do 2.5 easy on a sunny day.
