Corvette (C7) [Official] Chevrolet Corvette (C7)

The Chevrolet Corvette (C7) is the seventh generation of the Corvette sports car manufactured by American automobile manufacturer Chevrolet from 2014 until 2019. The first C7 Corvettes were delivered in the third quarter of 2013. The racing variants include the C7.R, which won the GTLM 24 Hours of Le Mans.
I'm liking this Vette a lot, but I still think the Viper murders it in the interior department:

Yes that looks so much better than the Chevy.

True, the door trim and the grab handle are especially poor. Lets hope the final production models will be better built. I doubt it though.......................

Chrysler must have learned a lot for the Mercedes Benz people regarding engineering and build quality.

Yep and the Italians in charge now. The leather looks scrumptious.

Its surprising to see how the new Viper & the new Corvette look similar in many ways considering the appearance.

In the past, it has always been the opposite. They both looked so distinct & so original, which was actually a good thing.

Yes, in several of those pictures the plastics are clearly of the we-use-the-same-supplier-as-Subaru variety. Cheap and nasty - just look at the plastics on the centre console and steering column.

That said and, having put up with the shittest plastics this side of an S-Coupé for ten years, I can so easily say that I'd hit that. <-- Is this like way old slang now? :D

Chevy: the rumour mill is killing me. Commit to making this car in RHD. The Aussies will be kissing your bums and I won't be far behind either. Love it.

I do agree that the interior is still not "world-class" but it is much improved from the C6 (see Yaz post above). I am thinking that all black with contrasting white stitching will be the most flattering interior in the C7. I do not like the red interior at all.

I think I saw where Chrysler used the same supplier that Ferrari uses for the seats, so it could be the same supplier as Pagani?

M

I saw the same too, perhaps they're using leather from the same tannery. Anyway, I'm really liking both these USA supercars and is great to see them taking care about the interior as they used to, with the perfomance. Both Viper and Vette are going to look like bargains next to the Euro competition

Best of all is, these days you can't just argue that: "Yes, but it's American" Caddy's of late has great perceived quality. i guess it's becuase it's a Chevy Corvette it gets the shitty treatment. Shame on you GM!:poop:

Indeed the interior design is a huge improvement over the C6, with much sharper design, better stitching, less puffy look to the seats, smoother leather on the dash rather than the grainy crap they were using before. But while it is not yet a $100k car, this same basic interior will surely be used in the top end Z06 and ZR1 variants. This is where the details of the ill-fitting pieces of the grab handle (you can spot about 3 problems in that one shot alone) become more glaring. I'm not sure it's just a fitment problem in terms of assembly, but of one piece being physically mismatched to the other which starts at the design phase.
GM set Audi as the benchmark for interior quality with the C7 and while it is greatly improved, I'd say they landed closer somewhat closer to a last-generation A3. It's a more adventuresome design and that's important in a sports car; I happen to like the fact that there appears to be so much real aluminum (where Porsche charges extra for painted plastic designed to look like aluminum) and while red interiors can seem garish, I think GM pulled this one off fairly well. Unfortunately, there's more detail issues in the upper left part of the dash here:

Seat control buttons improved up to maybe VW levels, but the faux-leather grain of the plastics cheapens things here:

Still, I'd definitely look into this car if I were in the market (along with the usual German suspects plus the new Jag). Especially if they've made good on their claims about drastically improved feedback and involvement. Regarding price, I've heard figures of $53-56k to start.

The interior is a big step up but I can still see heavy traces from the GM family in there, I can see a resemblance to the Malibu parts bin in some plastics and such, etc. Also, it's only a matter of time before you start seeing that steering wheel style shared within the low-end/budget GM lineup (Rental Car Fleets, etc.) as well.

That said, WTF do we expect from a car like this that starts at $53-$56K. That's an incredible entry point and buys you a ton of presence in that garish way that can rival the presence of bonafide Exotics, by not respectable refinement or perfected-ly balanced design however (like you expect from a bonafide Exotic along with of course its extraverted/shouty approach), but instead brutal force and shout-y simply for the sake of it. Better believe there will be a market for that.

In real life pictures and the video few posts above the taillights are different. In the above picture they lack the black frame and do look WAY batter to my taste!!!!

Holy sheit that looks sick. GM's gonna have a mega hit on their hands, at least within the first 2-3 years this thing's on the market. It'll probably be like the Camaro all over again.

I called it first! I am a sucker for white as well. Can't wait to see pictures of the premium leather interior in black, hopefully with white contrast stitching please.

I want tan leather. Black is gonna burn my bottom in summer :D desirability of this C7 is increasing everyday !

If they do release the FRC (Fixed Roof Coupe) version like say the C5 1999/2000, if not, then your only choice is the Z06 no sunroof / targa and a good ol conventional manual gearbox (maybe auto with beefier internal components) ?
